- Listened to the song 'E Karta' by Izaline Calister
- Read the proverbs up to letter K
- Read 3 news items
- Watched the video Photo Shooting @ Cilo for "Cas di Glas"

I've already reviewed lessons 6 and 7 from Papiamentu Textbook. If I manage to do lesson
8 today, I'll have just to stick to 2 lessons a day again in order to finish reviewing
the book next week.

- Listened to the song Bendiciona, by Izaline Calister (one of my favorite songs from
Curaçao!!)
- Read 3 news items
- Read the proverbs, letter L
- Watched the video Esmeralda den entrevista cu Gerald Bisslik pa Cas di Glas

And yes, I managed to take 3 short lessons today! I'm done with reviewing lesson 10
from Papiamentu Textbook. This means all I have to do now is keep on reviewing two
lessons a day next week, so I am done with rereading the book.

I don't really have an idea of my level and of how much vocabulary I managed to bring
up to an active level, because I didn't really have an opportunity to try and speak
Papiamento. Still, I'm sure I'm going to arrive at Aruba and Curaçao with a good
tourist level for both speaking and understanding, and I'm going to take my best out of
it as well as get hold of some books.

- Read the lyrics to the song Vaye Berde by Izaline Calister
- Read the proverbs up to letter O

- Watched the video Entrevista cu Wim riba Aruba Hi-Winds

It is been quite exhausting to read 2 whole chapters from Papiamentu Textbook, still I'm
trying my best to finish it this week. I have come across important info at this 'second
wave' and I'm starting to consolidate the language's grammar.

I've found a new series from the Aruban Government, it is caled 'Bo Aruba Nos Aruba'.
Looks interesting as it covers different aspects from the island. It is really hard to
find high quality videos for Curaçao the way I found for Aruba.

Expugnator, you have done really well in your Papiamento learning. You have taken advantage of what there is available in a language with limited resources and shown people that learning by using a course alongside native materials is very effective. Your payoff is about to come. I hope your holiday and speaking opportunities to come are very enjoyable! You'll be adding Papiamento to "speaks" soon, I'm sure.

Thank you iguanamon! It is really rewarding to have such feedback from you who have a
long experience in learning creole languages and taking a native-resources approach. I
do hope I can add it to 'speak', I just am not sure if I can actually understand it
spoken at normal speed. I can't wait to spend the week in Curaçao and Aruba!

- Watched the video Marlenne di Ling & Sons den entrevista na Cool FM 98.9. It is an
interesting interview and I could understand it a bit better than the previous videos -
I just didn't like the many anglicisms from the interviewee

- Listened to the song Dushi Dia, by Izaline Calister. It is the last (actually first, as
I was reading from top to bottom) song at her lyrics page, even though its lyrics weren't
correct as they belonged to another song. Now I'm going to listen to songs randomly and
based on my taste, for example, I like the song Apesar di tur cos and I'm going to listen
to other songs by Biggy Boy
- Read the proverbs letter R
- Watched the video Entrevista Honeypot na Cool FM new song Lonely Night at a reasonable
comprehension level

- Read the proverbs, letter S
- Read the news items Wild Cats ta suta Sta Rosa 12-4, Mohamed “The Pain” Hussein lo
bringa den kouchi na Kòrsou and Rumornan di futbòl ku tin den kaya ! It was a long
text, and this expression was particulary interesting:

Ta trata aki di moveshonnan sea di dirigentenan, futbolistanan òf tambe ku TIN DI HABER
ku e mundu di futbòl lokal mes.

In Papiamentu they use the verb 'tin', from "tem", not "haver". Yet in this expression
the verb 'haver' is fossilized. In Portuguese it would be "tem a ver com o mundo...". I
bet the Portuguese expression was with "haver" too, but then it was changed to "tem a
ver" due to euphony "tem a haver" would have an uncomfortable repetition of a's). In
English it's "have to do", so, a different verb, too.
- Watched the video Pregunta: Gobierno ta bai haci algo pa baha e consumo di awa y
coriente na su edificionan?
- Listened to the song "Apesar di tur cos", by Biggy Boy. It is not the first time I
listened to this song, but now I got down to paying attention at its lyrics.
