Not sure if this is the proper sub-forum for this but...
Does anyone else enjoy the graphics/design of older language learning books? I feel like interesting design
is often lacking in newer books (though some of the newer Teach Yourself books have cool covers). I was
lucky enough to get some graded readers with interesting covers for free from an old German teacher who
is a family friend. Here are some pictures:
This is part of a series published in 1957 by DC Heath and Co of Boston. Illustrated by Susan Perl.
There are also nice woodcuts inside:
This one is also from DC Heath and Co. This particular edition is from 1978. No attribution for cover art.
This one was published in 1972 by Oxford University Press. Cover art is a drawing by Paul Klee.
As language learning increasingly utilizes the internet and other modern technologies, I hope aesthetic
considerations aren't forgotten. Something about the design of these readers makes me want to just
pick them up and turn the pages.

If I am correct, "Fuenf beruehmten maerchen" are also the finishing part of "Graded German reader" by P.H.

Just because a thing is old doesn't mean that it doesn't have value. Something from the 1950's to the 1970's is within the living lifetimes of a lot of forum members and/or their parents/grandparents. Yeah the language may be older. I get that. If you are seeking out other sources as well you'll be alright as far as contemporary usage goes.
There's also the added advantage of the price being sometimes quite low and the quality being often times higher than some of what is currently available. I am hooked on tech myself, but I can still appreciate a good resource regardless of whether or not I can download it to my tablet or e-reader.
Well done, Onrust, and welcome to the forum!

My favorite German grammar is Stern and Bleiler "Essential German Grammar" from 1961. A few of the words are a bit old fashioned, but it's really nicely written.

Yes, that is correct.
I forgot about this reader. Great cover. Published in 1969 by Holt, Rinehart, and Winston.
