Gemuse, I'm not at all sure that there are people who'll waste their time correcting such a long post. It's not like I haven't tried to post there, I tried, but there wasn't much of feedback.
As for contractions - I got used to them. I could try to write other way, maybe, but I don't like wasting my time as this stuff. I don't particularly like young adult fiction, but detectives I would read. And, honestly, I wasn't even thinking about opening O. Henry recently. I do understand that now that it is just useless. P.S. But yeah, I'm going to post it on lang-8 for the hope that I'll get more opinions about "I am yet to get used to watching movies"... from English native speakers in particular :) 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

I would say "I haven't gotten used to watching movies yet." Or “I’m not used to watching movies yet.”, which would be simpler and still convey the same meaning. You could also say “I’m not yet used to watching movies.”. It sounds more natural to me to put the “yet” at the end, but that could be an American thing. I do know that I’ve never heard a native English speaker say “I am yet to get used to…”. It’s always “I have yet to get used to…”. I can’t explain why. It’s idiomatic. Today my understanding of [applied] English phonology and pronunciation has been literally revolved. As I have said before and as you could probably hear in my audios and videos, my efforts of making the th sound aren't really good.
So, today I have learned a trick of how to pronounce it easily. I mean it. Easily. I have been struggling with this for more than 10 years. Ten f***ing years. I had good teachers which were quite able to pronounce it yourself but couldn't explain it to us. Or course, that astonishingly easy way of improving my th wouldn't work in an instant, but, dammit, I spent 10 years thinking that I won't ever be able to pronounce it right. "I will never learn how to pronounce it right". And some other things about the English way of pronouncing sounds. Maybe I'll even try to make daily audios in order to try and find out if there are any improvements. Maybe... 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

Today I begin to post daily audios in order to find out if my pronunciation of th (or overall) is improving.
