Eh I hope so too. I mean I have to. Maybe it'll take me months, but some improvement is just bound to happen. At least that's what I think when I can't understand what Martha says. _______ French logic: - weird numerals - possessives matching the thing which is owned - lots of homophones Not sure I will ever get this. But apart from that I don't really see anything hard so far. I progress slowly because I don't know enough words and because I haven't dealt with phonology and with "how to read". Possessives which match the gender of the thing that is owned exist in Russian too...
As for the numerals, I don't use the French ones - in Switzerland and Belgium they count normally (except that Belgium still uses quatre-vingts, but in isolation that is no worse than sorok for forty in Russian). Edited by tarvos on 27 May 2015 at 11:13am 1 person has voted this message useful | |

French is great! There are weird pieces in every language. At least in French, you can
quite always tell the pronunciation from the writen word, English is much harder in that aspect. And the tenses are not that bad either. There are worse (not sure whether that was the pesimist or the optimist speaking) But the numerals are weird. As I had been used to them for years, I was so suprised to find out Spanish numerals were normal :-) And count in one more vote for Neverwhere. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

The novel Neverwhere was actually written after the BBC TV series (also written by Neil Gaiman) which is worth watching if you can find it.

Whoa whoa whoa. I have a long waiting list of books to read, but I guess now I have no choice :)
____ Just spent about two hours (100 minutes of pure time) writing - the third chapter is online. Actually that one was easier because it's somewhat like I usually write in Russian. And I have thought the plot through while walking home, this also helps. But I noticed I am not sure whether I use tenses right and if my words' choices aren't weird sometimes. Eh I should've been writing the answers to the last colloquium which I kinda had to sit a week ago had I been doing stuff in time. ____ ah, and Cavesa, you should clear your inbox or contact me via something without such limits, I haven't given all the links in one message, you know :D 1 person has voted this message useful |
