Hehehehe, mission accomplished? :D _____ Reading till 2:00. What the hell is going on? I managed to find not just the series Neverwhere, but two audiobooks (one audiobook and one radio drama, to be precise). First is read by the author, second by James McAvoy (!), Natalie Dormer, David Harewood, Sophie Okonedo, Benedict Cumberbatch (!) (plus Anthony Head, Romola Garai and the author himself again). Oh the struggle. And I've reached some strange state with French in which I want either to write or to read or to watch something. I recommend watching Profilage and reading Chattam's Autremonde series. English can wait too ;-)

Hmmm. French resources are completely undiscovered by me, so I dunno where I can find

I know what's wrong with The Stand - Das letzte Gefecht - it's too hard, too long and too Stephen
King. Maybe he's just not the kind of authors whose books I like. I don't want to stop the book completely, it's interesting to see what happens next, but, heck, 24% in and nothing but chaos which I can't really connect into some big and clear picture. So I've tried Kerstin Gier's Rubinrot. I saw the movie and found it to be surprisingly good. Dunno if there's the second one already, and even if it I really doubt that the third is completed too. I don't just read, I listen to German audio (sorta L-R), and so far this is both bad and good. The plus side is obvious, minuses are that I don't have time to look words up and that audiobook is shorter, jumping whole paragraphs from time to time, which successfully makes me lose understanding. You managed to find the radio series of neverwhere? I haven't looked for it, but I
missed it the first time it aired :( There is also a comic for Neverwhere, if you're interested! I haven't read much of it, but it's good :D (Neverwhere sometimes feels like Neil Gaiman's answer to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which I also recommend to you, if you haven't tried it already.) Sorry, I'll back off with the Neverwhere... for now! For French watching, I really like Les Revenants, but it's pretty difficult. It's really cool, though, and might be worth watching just for personal enjoyment rather than language study (not that the two are mutually exclusive. I think Les Revenants is noticeably more difficult than Profilage but still much less than Engrenage and Hero Corp. But it is a good series, that is surely true.

I haven't even checked these recommendations but somehow I wish I didn't have to sleep at
night :D or to be studying chemical engineering, hehe. Yeah, one can say I get sort of infiltrated with French now, I've got two or even three bands to check, I've picked up my favourite book of Le rois maudits (La louve de France) and I am reading a hilarious grammar book (sort of like Deutsche Grammatik mit menschlichem Antlitz, but maybe even funnier). And yet I can't be brave enough even to read the rules of reading/pronunciation once more :D 1 person has voted this message useful |
