Indie hipster music can be fun. But I listen to everything, whether it's indie or not.
When I was in Tomsk I stayed with a girl who had the best music taste :) Some of it was
quintessentially hipster, some was rock and roll, some grunge. :)

tarvos, I'm afraid I'm too close-minded to be simple music lover , I'm still not grown up enogh to throw away genres and whatever.
About girl's taste - maybe that's our Siberian atmosphere? :) However, I do not know people who listen to progressive/ heavy metal like me IRL. One of my cousin's is Billy Talent fan, also listens to Metallica, SOaD and some of alternative. I'm afraid that he is the closest one to me in these king of things, but it doesn't matter anything - we're arguing about music every time we ever speak! :)

I enjoy progressive metal and heavy metal too, but I like many genres. I've just started
to enjoy many different genres. Variety is the spice of life :)

I love Siberia.

tarvos, hehe, final kick to make me learn German is avant-garde/ neoclassical group, maybe that was only beginnig of something more? :)
I suppose, your journey was successful? :) I do love Siberia (wonderful weather over here these days) and Russia in common too, but I hate our government. However, we probably deserve it...

I try not to think about the Russian government. My journey was very successful. I made
many friends. Maybe it is the beginning!

I generally think avant-garde and jazz/classical music are a bit snobbish, but in some
doses I can tolerate them. It depends on how much the composer is building a piece and
not showing off he knows a lot of theory. Hence I don't like the virtuosity of people
like Rachmaninov, but Tchaikovsky I like.

tarvos, I'm glad that it was good :) I just can't even begin to imagine that someone would've want to live here knowing about our government. but our country at least deserve more attention as an interesting one. I'd never sorry about myself being Russian (not only because it is pointless to sorry, hehe).

Well, de gustibus non est disputandum. I'm not very deep into avant-garde, but I don't think that Angizia (that one which finally kicked me) is snobbish. I even think that Dream Theater is much more theory addicted, but I just don't care :)

P.S. Originally German musical "Elisabeth" was adapted to some languages, including Dutch. I do like one song from any variations, in Dutch it's called Er valt een zwarte schaduw. So... I got interested in Stanley Burleson. I really want to hear him in something else. Any links? :)

Dream Theater used not to be. Now they are. Guess why I stopped liking them, hehehe...but
I don't like most prog metal, only prog metal which sounds different (i.e. prog because
of sound not because of solos).

I don't have a link, I don't know that musical :(

tarvos, easy thing to guess :) But I hope that new album would be better anyway. My fav from them is The Count of Tuscany, so I have much more patience to them :)

Ok, no links (I have that musical anyway, hehe). Check out song (short version) if you interested :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emoh8qD2ESQ
