Simply starting this thread so that I can share with you all my favourite Dutch musician and one beautifully talented
singer-songwriter in general, Eefje de Visser. Her first album De Koek is a sparse, fragile and touchingly honest telling of personal experiences, moments within relationships and observations of the surrounding world. Her new record which came out a few weeks ago, Het is, is all that with the benefit of the first album behind her. Subtler, deeper in terms of layering of sound, and more unbelievably beautiful and lingering melodies which seem to come out of her endlessly (really you don't even need to know Dutch to appreciate them). Anyway, if you're after some proper good (Dutch) music, I'd highly recommend Eefje. Vos, I like Eefje de Visser a lot! I'll definitely be listening to more of her album later tonight.
If you like her, you might also like Laura Arkana. She's a singer-songwriter who lives in Utrecht. Laura Arkana - Souvenirs I think her voice is just divine, and she's a really really cool person to boot. She's also good friends with my ex- boyfriend. Recently I actually found out she wrote a song in which he and I are mentioned together by name (!!!), which is probably one of the coolest things that's ever happened to me, but it was written before we broke up. 1 person has voted this message useful | |
