I'm gonna paste this direct from openoffice, I hope it works:

大家好!我叫proudft, 可是你们可以叫我傲脚。这个名字太傻不傻? 我不知道。我太太性周。 可能我叫周傲脚。 还是周
proudft。。。 太难决定。我们是美国人, 我们住在加州。 养一只猫,叫乌龙。 他岁一, 很热闹。

So, uh, I've never actually written anything in Chinese. As in, generated sentences out of thin air. All this time and
I've just been reading and doing input. So, in case I mangled this too badly, here's what I mean to say:

Hello everyone! I'm called proudft, but ya'll can call me 'ao jiao' (proud foot). This name might be stupid. I don't
know. My wife's surname is Zhou. Perhaps I am called Zhou Ao Jiao. But Zhou proudft.... too hard to decide. We
are American, we live in California. We have one cat, called wu long (black dragon, or tea). It is one year old, and
lively.

I went along with Chinese style in calling the cat an 'it', but I insist on using sui for its age. :P

I just pasted from a text editor. I'm running Linux. Perhaps that helps... When I click 'Preview Post' all the non-Latin text shows up as gibberish, but when I post it, it works fine.

Hey, everyone! So, I've finally gotten up the courage to try and write a (very short) intro in Mandarin for the
January Challenge.

你們好。我叫 妮可。我是美國人。

That's pretty much the extent of my Mandarin knowledge. :) A little more about me in English. I've only just
started learning Mandarin. It's a fascinating language, and I'm really excited to learn as much as I can this year.
I've also been studying Spanish for over two years, so this year will be an experiment in seeing how well I can
learn two languages at the same time.

Check out my language
learning log
for more about me and my language journey.

Anyone still having trouble with the black boxes and the question marks? Leaving out all blank spaces and using Chinese puncutation helps.

Yes, I still have the problem, even when leaving out blank spaces. How do I use Chinese
punctuation?

Please evaluate this recording. It is m
first one in Chinese ever. It's a dialogue I've already got corrections for from
italki.

My first recording in Chinese ever. I can spot some tone mistakes and aspiration/non-
aspiration, but I can't get everything correct at once no matter how I try, so I better
stick to what I got for the moment.
