I'm going to Buenos Aires in May and I'm also going to watch one of the matches of the
Argentinian team at the World Cup. While I don't intend to study Spanish TAC-wise, I think I should start intensively listening to castellano río-platense till I can understand it comfortably. Any suggestions on TV shows, telenovelas or films? 1 person has voted this message useful | |

I recently saw Infancia Clandestina. It was Argentina's submission to the 2013 Academy Awards for Best
Foreign Language Film, but didn't make the shortlist. It's unfortunate because it was a very good movie. It's told through the eyes of a child who is growing up in Argentina during the Guerra Sucia (his parents are Montoneros). Don't know if you are looking for a movie with Spanish subtitles too. Oddly enough the copy of the movie in the US only has English ones, but you'd probably be able to find one with Spanish subtitles in Brazil. Thanks, got it! In fact I'll try not to use subtitles, just the original audio is enough.

Some Argentine films in my collection are, in no particular order: "Un día en el paraíso", "¿Quién dice que es fácil?", "Una estrella y dos cafes", "Un día de suerte", "Liverpool" and an Uruguayan film called "25 vatios". Hope this helps, Expugnator.

Luckily, there are loads of great Argentine programs you can watch.
If you happen to have any kind of interest in Philosophy you can try the excellent Filosofia aqui y ahora. In fact canal encuentro is brilliant for interesting, educational programs. If you find an interesting program that doesn't work on the site I linked to, try typing its name into youtube. Here are some other cool series I have watched, in no particular order: En terapia Jorge (I like this one, very funny, in fact one of the women behind the show, Malena Pichot has produced a lot of good content worth checking out.) rescatistas La Patagonia Rebelde is a film that is well worth watching, and of course Bombon: El Perro is absolutely fantastic. El secreto se sus ojos seems to be the most famous Argentine film of all, and is a must watch. Finally, Atrapado en accion is a great little cortometraje made by a group of young people from Uruguay that I was fortunate enough to meet, which I think deserves a bigger audience. "Medianeras" is a really sweet movie.
