@Cristina
I'm not quite sure if I'm on the path to enlightenment or sublime ignorance, but I'm all the happier to be on that road together wherever it leads, sis! One day we'll both be able to throw Russian idioms casually to the wind, and enjoy chai with sushki like the best of them. Until then, let's keep pushing each other ever forward to a world beyond Pimsleur chat-up lines and full of the eloquence of Pushkin.

Pushkin. You said the magic word. I think he must be the secret goal/desire/role model for most russian language learners!

I've been avoiding your language log this week like a small child trying to ignore a shiny new action figure or shy away from a chocolate muffin on the kitchen table (and those pictures aren't helping either; they're just transforming this temptation into a chocolate muffin sprinkled with hundreds and thousands with a sparkler stuck in the middle!). Must resist, must resist...I have projects to write up...but by the Eye of Horus, your experiment looks so much more interesting! :)

Aww, you're far too nice.

Ok, let's make a deal. If we finish L'Égyptien hiéroglyphique by the end of May 2015, we'll earn some type of related treat. I don't know what it is just yet, but we have plenty of time to think of it. And if we fail in our quest, then it's a trip to the embalmers for the both of us.

And so it begins.

We shan't organize a TAC team, because there's no "Total Annihilation" here. Rather the opposite, in fact: We shall be as patient and abiding as if we were buried beneath the dry sands of Luxor. But our little is.t will endure. And we will learn r n(y) km.t.

In fact, if you're interested, I'll go ahead and create a "team" log and typeset some pretty hieroglyphs for the first post. :-)

No, it's definitely not a secret.

Setting up a team log for this long-term challenge is a great idea! And I was sorely tempted to add a rallying cry of the Scorpion King, but I think this clip may be closer to our reality.

@Anya
Big congratulations on passing the DALF C1! I look forward to following your posts and interesting smorgasbord of video links again next year. :)

I've been in Russia since 2009 actually, with the exception of 2010-2011 (the academic
year). It's good. I don't speak nearly as much Russian as I should, but I've made a pact
with myself to take the C1 exam in June 2015, which is a long way off still, but I think
I'm fairly close to that level already, at least in the passive skills part.
