Hello fellow team Spaß members! My history with German is pretty long. I studied it for 8 years at school and I used to watch a lot of VIVA back in the day (around 1997 or so). But then I got to university and I realized English was going to be more important for me (I studied computer science) so I forgot about German and focused all my attention on English. I did spend one semester as an exchange student in Germany but that was my last serious connection to German.
Now I need to revive my German skills for work purposes. I've been doing it for the last few months and my passive skills are good enough, maybe somewhere between B2 and C1, but my active skills are around B1 and I need to improve them fast. I don't know yet how I will go about it but I'm pretty sure it will be a mix of methods involving reading a lot (preferably aloud) and using textbooks to brush up on grammar. My main language for TAC 2014 will be Korean and I'll be studying it more than German because my level in it is much lower. However, I wanted to register for this team as well because it might help with my motivation. I'm looking forward to see what resources everyone else is using and to read about everyone's progress throughout the year. Let's have fun! I would really like to be part of the German team and I like the name ;-) My goals are quite simple. Get through a larger chunk of material up to the lowest level at which I can tackle native material, something like A2/B1.
