I was reading Harry potter and I just guessed at the pronunciation of some kanji and somehow that made me
feel better than just skipping it. Maybe not the best of ideas though. Funny that you're watching Nodame again. My friend from my class is doing the same and I've been meaning to. I did watch a couple episodes already and I think it's 2 years since I watched it too. I thought I understood a lot. I'm gonna go try some more. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

It's not been the most productive of weeks language wise as I've been distracted by other life matters. I wasn't able to have a French lesson this week and I completely forgot to book any JOI classes, so before I knew it I was speaking to my language exchange partner today and realising that no Japanese had come out of my mouth for a week.
Yuhakko asked on the 旅立ち team thread if I was going to aim for N1 this year. I hadn't really given it serious thought up to this point. I guess it's possible for me to reach a level where I might pass the exam in 10 months, I know other people have achieved this, but I'm not sure if I could do it without making myself miserable. However, it occured to me that aiming for N1 in 2015 is actually a much more realistic prospect, as long as I keep putting enough hours in to continue moving forward. @yuhakko no need to apologise, I'm actually pretty happy you put the idea in my head. I'm
starting to feel a lot more motivated to do stuff in Japanese again. @kraemder yes, it's like the difference between B2 and C1. Although the exam format is almost identical, you need to know a lot more stuff. And I was barely there for language knowledge and reading at N2 and haven't improved since then. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

Surely there's no such thing as too much Japanese? Is there?
Admittedly my German is suffering right now and I'm getting lazy about studying French - but I'm still keeping up with French news, radio, and I'm even auditing a French language MOOC at the moment! 1 person has voted this message useful | |

I finished off Proposal Daisakusen in a marathon session on Friday night. Nothing like a
messed up love story to watch on Valentine's Day. To be honest, I felt slightly out of my depth with this show. I understood enough to follow the general story from beginning to end, but I know I missed a few important details in a couple of episodes. I was a bit worried that I'm still regressing, but I started watching Moto Kare yesterday and had a much better comprehension. I think I'm just better at understanding working adult language rather than young people language! I also finished off the third volume of Doraemon. But this week I haven't put enough time into reading. Must try harder... 1 person has voted this message useful |
