It worked absolutely perfect for me. Unbelievable. Do people really say some of those expressions? Or, are they just in there as controls?

What's also interesting is it seems some of you saw different questions than I did. Where I

I didn't see that question either, but I just assumed Julie was
giving a facetious example. Not that I would put it past certain states to actually have drive-thru liquor stores
;)

I really got the question about drive-through liquor stores :). Which, apparently, are a big no-no in San Jose and Honolulu :).

It gave me New York as one of the answers, and I actually lived in New York for a while,
even though I'm not American, so I guess it's pretty accurate.

haha, yes! I wonder if anyone from this forum says "the devil is beating his wife" instead of "sunshower"?
What option did you guys (lol) select for the question about centipedes?
And what do you call an easy high school or college class? The only answer that made sense to me was "blow-off," though I would call that class a "joke."

Why, roly poly or pill bugs, of course! Centipedes are mean scary things with a painful
bite. Roly poly bugs are more like cute little toys for kids and kittens.

Hmm. The first time I didn't get a very accurate answer - it told me I was from Tennessee or Texas. But that's
just because I put "y'all" as my preferred mode of addressing groups of two or more people. The second time,
on the other hand, it nailed me - it listed a city near my hometown in Georgia.
Edit: I would definitely say "roly poly". I wouldn't know what you meant if you used an expression other than
that one or "pill bug".

I thought it would be interesting to see how this survey deals with a British dialect, and have added my results below...
Most similar: Yonkers, New Jersey, and New York.
Least similar: Amarillo, Lubbock, and Little Rock.
Looking at the map, Hawai'i comes close (I've lived here for well over a year now), and it seems as though I know the way to San Jose but not to Amarillo. ;)
