How is it March already?! I didn't do very much Persian study in February, unfortunately. I finished Chai and Conversation pretty early on in the month, and then was so busy with classes that I didn't have time to do much of anything else of substance. I guess I'll need to reevaluate my goals for March given how much I've slacked off this month. :/
That said, my Egyptian neighbor has recently begun taking a Persian calligraphy class and has become interested in learning some Persian, so she's asked me to help her learn the differences between the Arabic and Persian alphabets and maybe even to learn some Persian! She has also invited me to attend the calligraphy class, which is taught by a Persian language scholar from Iran! Both should be fun opportunities. :) 1 person has voted this message useful | |

Calligraphy class sounds very interesting! I imagine that kind of thing would do my handwriting a whole lot of good.
Considering how much other language study you've done, I don't think it can quite be called slacking off ;) Maybe you might like to use more native materials? I find that reading a children's story once in a while makes studying a lot more interesting and also more recreational. While I'm reading half the time is probably spent on looking things up, but you'd probably get a lot out of native materials even without a dictionary. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

What do everyone's goals for March look like?
I have my exams at the end of the month, so I'm not aiming for much. I want to continue Assimil up to lesson 28 (only 4 lessons left) and do at least semi-regular Anki reviews. Right now I have about 130 new cards lined up for review, plus 50 new cards from the four Assimil lessons I plan to do... That means if I review my cards on 18 days in March I'm content. As soon as my exams are done and I've rested my head a bit I want to dive into my coursebook "Sprachkurs Persisch", which is a lot more intense than Assimil and Chai and Conversation are at the moment. The lessons introduce a lot of new vocabulary and there are sentence-drill exercises, as well as translation exercises. I'd like to start that phase with a clean slate, so to speak, so I want to get the lined up cards out of the way before. Time is running...
I didn't quite do as many reviews as I wanted to in March, but I'm satisfied that I did't forget anything and actually used the things I learned with my boyfriend and other Persian speakers. Now that my exams are all done I want to start using Sprachkurs Persisch. I'm not yet setting any quantitative goals - that may or may not happen. 2 persons have voted this message useful | |

Got a new source for reading material in colloquial style. Google for داستان قسمت plus a few random colloquial words such as دیکه,اونا منو اومدین plus perhaps some content word for variety. There a a great number of bloggers doing amateur writing in colloquial style. I order to quickly check if a text is written in colloquial style, I search for " ro " (with the spaces) and click on "highlight all". A text in colloquial style has many " ro " and no " را ". For the advanced, try including more slangy contractions like مثه مگنه میگمآ.

I don't study Persian yet but am seriously considering doing so from January. I was wondering what resources you recommend? I'd especially like to know which course you've enjoyed the most - Teach Yourself, Colloquial etc. as I want to order one.
