Jeff, that sounds really great. Might be just what I'm looking for, too. I can't wait for the book to arrive.

Tollpatchig, thanks a lot for the recommendation. KemushiChan's channel is really interesting! Don't be intimidated by Japanese! I must admit it's a very exotic and difficult language, but I am immensely enjoying the process of learning it. Diving into an East Asian language and culture is so interesting and rewarding!

FRIDAY, 21 FEBRUARY 2014

Oh damn, the 6WC was going really well until my housemate decided to drive me completely crazy, so I had to give him his notice. This meant an uneasy week for me with little sleep and a lot of stress, topped off by some sort of panic attack.

Well, there's no use in crying. This week is unfortunately lost, but I hope I will get back to the books soon. At the moment, when I look at a page, all I see is blurred squiggles, especially in Japanese...

I had been watching my usual English TV series and listening to JapanesePod101 until mayhem broke out. Although I have downloaded all interesting episodes of RussianPod101, I haven't done much with them yet.

Last but not least, Gaeilge gan Stró arrived in the mail today. It looks really good. I think if I combine it with Learning Irish, I should have a nice overall approach to Irish.

Now, all I have to do is to get a refreshing night's worth of sleep and hit the books again. I'm looking forward to it.

Don't feel bad Josquin. I've been unexpectedly out of town lately, so I have also lost my pace. I am sure most people go through similar things once or more times.

I hope things are ok now with your home situation.

Caution, rant ahead!

Well, thanks for your kind words, renaissancemedi! Unfortunately, everything is not okay. I decided to kick out my flatmate, which was a long overdue decision, and now I am dealing with the truth that I have been watching my life happening to me for too long.

I am in no mood for studying at the moment. This time, I don't doubt my interest in languages, but I notice there are more important things I have to deal with at the moment.

First of all, there's my medical condition of anxiety disorder, which I already had known about for some time. I thought I had it under control, but it revealed itself very impressively after I had taken the decision to kick out my flatmate. Long story short, I had a severe panic attack and am now dealing with constant nervousness, which is only slowly getting better.

Secondly, I have to deal with the fact that I'm gay, which I have known about for a long time, but tried to hide from others for too long. I had a very complicated story of coming out of the closet with lots of difficulties and setbacks, but I'm done with hiding now. If anyone here can't deal with that: This is your problem, not mine!

Thirdly, I'm rather alone where I live right now, because all my good friends left the town one after the other and I seem to be the only one who's left over. I'm generally not very sociable, so I had difficulties maintaining a satisfying social life, which led me to hiding in my room. You can imagine that this did not make me happy in the long run, especially because I didn't get along with my flatmate very well.

So, I have realized now that I will have to rebuild my social net from scratch in order to get happier again. I'm thinking about joining a club, maybe even moving to a bigger city, but I don't know yet. Another main task will be finding a significant other...

Well, yes, these are the problems which have been following me for several years and which I never really dealt with. I realize now that it's high time to do something about them. Talking about them seems to be the first step. My family and my therapist are there to support me, but there's only so much they can do. I will have to find my way on my own - with their help.

Finding good solutions to my problems will be my main task for the near future, so don't expect too many updates from me. Once I'm in a better place, I'm certain I'll get back to my languages again.

Having your family by your side is the most important thing, because they will always be there for you untill you get out of these dark times. Clearly you are taking control of your life right now, and that's scary.

Maybe your music will help you through. Languages should be the least of your worries. I mean, the mood to study comes and goes anyway, even if things are ok!

As for love, its time will come, no need to worry about it. In fact, I dare you to try avoiding it: you can't :)

Uh, phobia socialis guy invites you to the club!
Well, I know how hard it is and I also had some "stories" with my former housemates (and with the current one too), so... well. Good luck.
