As Norwegians we tend to have somewhat of an inferiority complex. Nobody knows where we are, most people around the world think Norway is the capital of Sweden, and we have a past as a colony under two of our neighbours. And a very poor colony, at that.

Almost any country in the world have more interesting architecture than we have, and we do very badly at football and most big sports.

Because of all of this, we feel like we won the lottery every time someone in a foreign country speaks nicely about us. And when I saw this article in the Huffington Post, I could not help but want to share it with the rest of you.

I cannot link from this machine, but here is the address for the article:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/01/07/norway-greatest-pla ce-on-earth_n_4550413.html

I guarantee you that you will want to come to Norway after seeing this :-)

Link: 25 Reasons Norway Is The Greatest Place On Earth

In my country, Norway is very famous for its excellent education system. Sometimes, we
use Norway as the example of a country with exceptional life quality and where all public
services works efficiently.

For example, Here in Buenos Aires, bus fares increased a few days ago. My dad was
complaining about the raise but my mum, who supports the increase, replied: "You can't have Norwegian quality buses if you pay less than its value".

You'll be ecstatic to know, then, that Tuesday's eight o'clock news on TF1 (France) had a special report on Lillehammer* with glowing reviews of Norway's sense of sustainability, natural aesthetics, and frugality.

* seeing as it's the 20th anniversary of the Lillehammer Olympics, and the 2014 Olympics having been in the news a lot recently for the massive costs, both to the Russian economy and the ecosystem.

:-D today, my friend and I were speaking about travelling. Unlike me, she has visited all the northern countries! I have visited none so far :-( ANd she thinks Norway is awesome! So, I want to go to the north. But only when there is not that cold, I'd like to survive the experience ;-)

I always grew up knowing that Scandinavia, with their generous welfare system, and income
equality, maternity leave, etc., they were like a society living in the 2180s instead of
the 1980s or 1990s when I was a child. I think that Norway was also first on quality of
life last year, with Denmark second, Sweden probably close behind. I still try to move
there...
