SUPER CHALLENGE WINNERS 2012-13

Dear all,

The final moment has arrived, when we look at the winners of the Super Challenge 2012-13 Let me first
say,
that in this particular challenge all those who finish are winners. Finishing a Super Challenge or half a Super
Challenge, or even a large part of a Super Challenge is something you can be really proud of. I had this
vision of a few of us holding hands while we stumbled over the finishing line, much like in a marathon at New
Year 2013. I still have that image, and if I disregard the fact that I had planned to be one of the winners, this
was a success. A few mighty ones have managed to go all the way, and even those who have not will often
have seen major improvements in their studies.

I am really proud of you all, and the winners of the Super Challenge 2012-13 are:

FULL SUPER CHALLENGE WINNERS 2012-13

Kanewai (French)
Emk (French)
Patrickwilken (German)
Kerrie (Spanish)
BAnna (German)
Serpent - who although she has not completed a full challenge, has completed three half challenges ( Italian
Polish and Romanian) something which is incredibly impressive!

My congratulations, kudos, respect and admiration goes to you all, and I hope you have seen major
improvements!

We have also a number of winners in the Half Super Challenge class ( and I have here chosen to include
those who went for a full Super Challenge, but who only completed half of it). We should encourage aiming
for the stars!

Great job by you all!!!

HALF SUPER CHALLENGE WINNERS

RMM ( German)
Johanna (Italian)
Tamise (Dutch Advanced Challenge and Japanese)
Eginhard (French)
Geoffrey Williamson (Dutch)
Patate (French)

Congratulations to you too!
----------------------

In addition to these winners, there are a number of people that I find very impressive.

I would particularly point to those who have finished the film part of their challenge, so a big congratulation to:

FILMS ONLY

Serpent (Portuguese, German and Romanian)
Kerrie (French, Korean)
Anna Popkova (French)
Sh' naya (Spanish)
Geoffrey Williamson (French, Italian)
Suzie (French)
RMM (Spanish and Italian)
Patate (Spanish)
Jason Wood (Korean)
druckfehler (Korean)
This name is (Portuguese)
Lane (Japanese)

Ling Gao (English)
Zhuzilu6wc (English)
Jeff Lehman (French)
ks (Japanese)
Laurence B (English)
Hekje (Dutch)
Snowflake (Mandarin)
Gary B (Italian)

Obs: If I have missed anyone, made an error in language or falsely attributed a victory to anyone then please
let me know and I will correct it. I am bound to have made some errors :-)

Reading only

ks (English)

------

In addition to those already mentioned, I would like to give a very honorable mentioning to Marikki, Adrian
McDermott, satsuki 055, ReneeMona and Surreal Language, who although not finishing a particular
challenge covered an amazing amount of materials. Well done!

So everyone, let your congratulations flow, and please, all those of you benefitted from the challenge, share
that with us, because I suspect that a lot of people did see a lot of improvements regardless of whether they
finished or not.

There may also come some sort of an official recognition in addition to this thread, but we will get back to that
when the details are clear.

.

CONGRATULATIONS WITH A MAJOR ACHIEVEMENT!!!

Ps. If you wonder what the Super Challenge is you will find more info in the

SUPER
CHALLENGE TOTAL INFO REFERENCE THREAD

I have opened a new thread where we can discuss the content of the new Super Challenge
2014-15, which will start on May 1. 2014 and last to December 31. 2015 so please let this thread be
dedicated to the congratulations and the sharing of results

I've completed Polish as well.
I also completed all my audio challenges apart from Danish, where I reached 94. Right now Danish is the brightest memory, but I also took my Portuguese to basic fluency within the first few months of the challenge. Didn't need much of a nudge.

Congratulations, everybody! That was… intense. :-)

Anyway, I just wanted to say that we are planning on handing out ribbons for all Half and Full winners, just as soon as Solfrid decides on the final plan for 2014/2015. These ribbons will appear below your name, just like Solfrid's pretty blue Winner TAC 2011 & 2012. Soon!

Oh, and some fun numbers: If we assume 250 words per page times 10,000 pages, that means that Super Challenge winners have read 2.5 million words in a foreign language, and Half Challenge winners have logged a very solid 1.25 million words. To put that in perspective, many schools have year-long Million Word Challenges for native students between the ages of 12 and 18. So even the Half Challenge is a perfectly respectable amount of reading for a native teenager. I just thought you all would like to know this. :-)

If 50 films count for "films only", please add my German too :)
And yay ribbons! :P

I also finished 100+ films for French and Korean.

Congratulations to everyone for what they accomplished. Even many who did not "finish" made lots of progress, so I think we are all winners. :)
