L-R is similar to an audiobook with subtitles. I find myself enjoying it less and less; it seems like it should be support for when you can't comprehend what is going on without support.
I don't see the point of it once you can figure things out by listening.

If you have enough time, you're supposed to cast a quick glance at each paragraph and follow the greater picture while listening. It's definitely oriented at global learners.

Also, LR in L2-L3 (or L3-L4 for non-native speakers of English) is a great strategy for when it starts getting too easy. Even if you can listen confidently, you may well miss out on some things unless you see them in translation, even into a weaker language.
