Well this is interesting. Spanish does indeed have these 4 versions.
But German seems to be missing the LL Advanced version.

Now to see if LL Ultimate advanced German differs from LL Beyond the basics German.

I have LL Spanish Beyond the Basics and LL Ultimate Advanced and they both have twenty dialogues, exercises and grammar points. However, they are totally different. Ultimate has slightly longer dialogues and has more material. Here are links to the two I have:

Spanish Beyond the Basics

Ultimate Advanced Spanish

It does not look like they offer the Ultimate Advanced version with CDs anymore. However, the course is widely available in US libraries.

Edit: They are both very good courses.

I have both of the Living Language German courses: Beyond the Basics, and Ultimate-Advanced. They are both very good and I find that they complement each other very nicely. Nevertheless, in my opinion, the Ultimate-Advanced course is superior in all respects.

In both cases, the basics of German grammar are reviewed and a few refinements are included that were not presented in the Complete Basics or Ultimate-Beginner-Intermediate courses. However, neither of them includes the in-depth explanations that one would find in most Intermediate German Grammars.

Not surprisingly, the vocabulary and dialogues differ quite a lot. The Beyond the Basics course includes 4 cds, whereas the Ultimate-Advanced course includes 8 cds. There is, indeed, more material in the latter course, which includes some short exercises. However, a portion of the additional audio in Ultimate-Advanced is taken up in a "spaced repetition" of the dialogues.

Evaluating the CEFR level of a given course is never an easy task; however, I would hazard a guess at B2 for both courses. In comparison, I found the Linguaphone Advanced German course decidedly more challenging; so much more so that I would recommend covering one of the Living Language Advanced courses before attempting it.

In Spanish, the Beyond the Basics lessons were all slightly easier than the hardest Assimil Spanish with Ease lessons. The Spanish Ultimate-Advanced were probably on par with the hardest Assimil lessons, but noticeably easier than Using Spanish.

On a related note, is the LL Complete Basics course different from the LL Ultimate
Beginner-intermediate?

Is it the same book that was published earlier by LL as Conversational German?
