I have a question about this years Super Challenge (2016-2017). I'm planning (along with a couple of others) to do Esperanto as part of the challenge. We'll probably manage to gather enough books to hit the target amount, but we are really struggling to get films (there are only 3 in the world as near as I'm able to tell) and very few podcasts.

My fellow Esperantists have recommended a lot of online lectures which are done in Esperanto, but last years rules precluded "live lectures" so I'm wondering if we could have an exception to live lectures (or any lectures) in Esperanto due to the scarcity of resources? Please? Pretty Please with sugar on top?

I have also received a question of whether it is possible to register with language families. I have thought long and hard about that, and I have deciced to say yes to that too.

I would prefer that people stick to individual languages, but if it is that important to them to do whole families, I will allow it. :-)

Hello there,
i noticed that you (christina) are not active in the new forum, so i post my question here
as well. it has been answered by serpent according to the rules of the last challenge, but
maybe things have changed...

I read somewhere in the discussion that live lectures were not allowed. How about recorded
ones/ MOOCs/ educational videos etc.
Also how about scientific papers instead of books.

The reason I ask is because apart from French and Spanish, I also like to take part in
English where I am fairly advanced in 'everyday' English, but scientific articles/ papers or
scientific/educational videos include a lot of technical terms which I am not that very
familiar with, so I'd like to train that particular part. Of course there are also
documentaries or just normal non-fiction, but it's still a bit different.
If that's not possible then I'd just do it for myself, but not in the context of the SC

Yay about allowing families!!! Thank you :)

As for MOOC's, I was very clear about them the previous time and there were no objections :) These are basically online lectures. One also completes assignments about them but this wouldn't count of course, or maybe for reading.

Speaking of that, generally all reading counts. Newspaper articles are definitely fine. But afaiu it's definitely better if you can also read some books.

Thanks for replying again, Serpent ;) I hope I did not sound as I did not believe you or
anything. Just wanted to make sure that Christina still is ok with it. But I guess I'll just go for it
then. And apart from articles I also have scientific textbooks and for films I'd defenitely also
get documentaries (which were fine, right?). There are some really great ones out there :D
