When it comes to learning languages, I try to set a minimum of at least 1/2h / day. Other than that I
watch a lot of videos, listen to the radio regularly. When I'm picking up a half-hour radio program, it
would be considered 30m listening. A 1h TV program with commercials cut would add up to 40m. If I'm
watching a Chinese drama series online, I may also be in a gym on the exercise bike. I can go up to
3x40m episodes at a time which is roughly 2h while burning calories.

While watching a TV program I can pick up several new words & phrase or not at all. I'd record the new
words & phrases after I'm done with exercise.

I use an old fashioned digital timer that sits on my desk to time each hour of activity.
After i'm done for the day i just add it to my tallies in a note in my iphone

I use Toggl, via browser (toggl.com) and android. It does the job, synchronises between various devices, and allows you to download your data.
