The Horse, the Wheel and Language by David W Anthony covers alot of proto-indo-european language although some people find the section on horse anatomy difficult. I prticulary enjoy work on proto-indo-european linguistcs but these can be heavy going. How to Kill a Dragon by Calvert Watkins and ML West's Indo-European Poetry and Myth are two good examples.
