Week 8 (10/5/14):

Japanese:
-I created and studied my Nakama chapter 1 quizlet flashcards

Goals for next week:
-Learn all of the Nakama chapter 1 material and go on to chapter 2
-Make quizlet cards of chapter 2 vocabulary that I don't know

Bulgarian:
-For the first time in weeks, I started studying a little bit of Bulgarian again. For some reason I'm not getting much
motivation to study it, perhaps because it almost never comes up in my everyday life. Anyway, I read through the
Bulgarian Survival Kit Online, so I practiced cyrillic recognition and pronunciation as well as vocabulary.

Goals for next week:
-Listen to the FSI Unit 1 tape 1 and Unit 2 tape 1
-Find another resource that will motivate me to study more

ASL:
-Went to two classes this week.
-Midterms are next week, so I am reviewing Unit 1 and Unit 2, which is what we've been doing in class.

Goals for next week:
-Do well on midterms!

Week 9 (10/12/14):

Japanese:
-I decided to start a "kanji of the week" thing. This week was 滝 (also a vocabulary word from Nakama chapter 1)

Goals for next week:
-New Kanji of the Week
-Learn all of the Nakama chapter 1 material and go on to chapter 2
-Make quizlet cards of chapter 2 vocabulary that I don't know

Bulgarian:
-I found another resource that motivates me a lot more than FSI. Byki Express.
-Finished the Byki Express 01 - Quick Start!
-Half way through Byki Express 02 - Quick Start!

Goals for next week:
-Finish Byki Express 02 - Quick Start!

ASL:
-I went to one ASL class to learn this week
-I took the midterm exams for the class, which were incredibly time consuming, but they are done now! Yaayy!

Goals for next week:
-Go to ASL class
-Watch an extra ASL video

Thought I would update… Gosh I've had such a difficult semester with all of my other classes… I will never do 18
credit hours ever again e-e.

Week 11 (10/26/14) - Week 16 (11/30/14)

I'm not going to lie, I did practically nothing with my self-study languages...

Japanese:
-I had a chat with my JSL/ASL friend's friend online in Japanese.

Bulgarian:
-Had Thanksgiving with a Bulgarian community. Got to hear everyone speak in Bulgarian, but didn't speak it myself..
too shy..

ASL:
-The semester is coming to a close..
-We finished Unit 5 today and have our final exam on the 12th… Wish me luck!

Surprisingly, Japanese really stresses me out to self study. I just look at my pile of Japanese books/website
compilation and have no idea what I should work on, or if I'm wasting my time when I review simple things I already
understand. I need a real challenge that will get me to the advanced level, but I can't find what works for me yet…

As for Bulgarian, it's a lot more fun, but harder to become motivated to study. I feel like I don't want to study it at
first, and then after I've finally studied, I feel really accomplished. We'll see where my studying goes next...

Hopefully over winter break I will work more on languages. I plan to continue my ASL studies, but on my own. The
class I took was very fast paced, and I learned a lot, but I think I'd feel less stressed if I could just watch an ASL
youtube video from time to time… Too many words learned at once can really overwhelm me, although I did manage
to remember around 90% of the material I'd say… o-O pretty sweet~ but stressful.
