BAnna mentioned this series on her log, and I've been trying to track down
more info since: Muhteşem Yüzyıl (The Magnificent Century) is a Turkish soap opera about the life of the Ottoman sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and Roxelana, the harem slave girl who became the Sultana. It's four seasons, with 139 episodes total. 
I've found seven episodes with English subtitles (there are 139 episodes total, over four seasons), but it looks like people are working on getting more episodes done: Episode 1 Episodes 2-7 I think the subtitles are being done by these guys: _______________________________________ If anyone has any other links, pass them on! The whole series is online, but these are the only ones I found with subtitles. I've only watched the first fifteen minutes, and it looks decent. There's a small Game of Thrones vibe, though the pacing is much closer to Latino telenovelas. And in fact, there is a Spanish-dubbed version is playing on some American stations, under the name Suleimán, El Gran Sultán. I'll check it out this weekend. I hope it's good! BTW, an Arabic dubbed version of Muhteşem Yüzyıl (Arabic title: حريم السلطان) was hugely popular in the Arab World. Unfortunately, I havn't been able to find a single episode on Youtube in which the Arabic audio was in sync with the scenes. :-( 1 person has voted this message useful |
