@ Josquin, I see that Jeff has added himself to the Celtic team. I guess it's official
with five members! Has anyone given thought to becoming captain? I had a bit of a
disastrous year this year so I'd think it better for me to get back to being an active
member of this forum before taking on a leadership role!

My English is surely advanced, but I have serious
problems which I've yet to overcome (like, for example, bad listening comprehension).
I'm not like an average advanced ESL guy who lurks around really complex grammar and
vocabulary. This being said, to me it's not actually important too whether I am in
Advanced or in Advanced ESL, I'm gonna do things differently anyway.

I think the advanced study group will actually cater to your needs well. Not everyone
will be working on highly subtle grammar/vocab. I even listed Polish, where I can't
really claim basic fluency because I rely too much on the Russian equivalents.

I totally agree. Via Diva, join the dark side! I expect the Advanced group to be a mix
or approaches and goals, a heaven to take inspiration from, certainly not a group of
"average lurkers" :-D . I am among those who find obsession with weird "advanced"
stuff annoying, so no lurking of mine is to be expected :-D And working on your
listening comprehension is a quest more than worthy of pursuit in such a team!

Since I am away on holidays now and I won't be back until early January, what happens in terms of being assigned to a team? Do I just get assigned somewhere and then I'll later find out?

Languages won't be split up this year, so you will be on the one and only French team. Don't worry!

Yes, the Celtic team is official now! With Mani, who will study Welsh, we even have six members. I can't become captain as I'm already captain of the Russian team. What about Jeff or sctroyenne?

Ah, thank you Serpent and Josquin! As this is my first TAC I am not sure about how such things work... if there's
only going to be one French team then I know which one I'll be in!
Thanks for the suggestion, but I won't be able to do Spanish and Esperanto together along with French, at least
not from the start...

I've also offered a name "Gegenwart" for
German team :)

I am not super begeistert by 'Gegenwart' as it sounds a bit like the English word for
wart to me - actually 'super begeistert' might be a better name, or "Der Hammer" etc.

If you as team captain start the TAC thread we can start discussing things there.

I think starting the team thread and discussing the name there would be a good idea.

PS: I kind of like the name "Rätsel". ;)

I think sctroyenne would be an excellent team leader, her log is so organised and
motivating! Of course it's for the individual to decide.
