Thank you! OK then --
I won't be following your personal logs (well, those whose I'm not teammates with), but if anybody wants me to check upon anything, or needs a hand with some grammar points, or whatever really, just say so here, I'll probably be in the shadows nearby ;)

I guess I'm lucky then: I've already made a self-introduction on Lang-8 (slightly
modified and I added the corrections that I remember - it would be cheating to copy
the already corrected entry, wouldn't it?):

Quote:

You'll find a link to the entry with corrections in my log.

Most of my mistakes were (and are) cases of poor gender agreement (isla noruego,
etc.)...

Was my use of "por accidente"correct up there? I had a little internal debate between that and "sin querer". I
also can't figure out how to get upside down punctuation.

I guess i'll introduce myself too!

Voy a

And my goal for the end of the month is to finish La ciudad de las bestias, which is very practical since the
book is due back at the library soon. My bonus goal is not to finish something, but rather to get back into
using Duolingo regularly (which means at least three times before the end of February). I'm seriously feeling
the need to pump up my Spanish before my trip!

Edit: I don't think i've linked to my log yet, so language.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=35043&PN=1&TPN=8#5222 75">here it is. I'll change the
name once we've got a confirmed team name! To be honest I don't update much anymore, but I am plugging
along reading and watching in Spanish, doing homework and studying, and lurking on the forum/team log.

@Emily96:

hacemos [...] errores → cometemos errores

Correct :)

If you pack so many elements with "me too" in one short phrase that's how it sounds more natural.

Quote:

Perhaps "sin querer" sounds a bit better because it rules out external factors (it happened because you did it, on purpose or not) but there's no really big difference.

I also can't figure out how to get upside down punctuation.

Try Alt+0191, 6824, or 168 on the number pad for "¿", and Alt+ 0161 or 173 for "¡", or install an US international (US X) or Spanish (SP or LA) keyboard layout in your system. I see you do type accented letters, though.

Quote:
[...]Child and Youth Care (como traducirlo??)

"Cuidado de niños y jóvenes" might work.

Pretty good :)

Also, fixed the link to your log for you.

Muchas gracias!! for the corrections and for fixing my link. "Cuidado de niños y jóvenes" is simple enough. I
struggled a lot trying to translate it into French. As for the para/por - we were just working on prepositions in
class so I should have got that! My reasoning was that I would be going for the duration of May... does that
make any difference?

You're welcome :)

I just added "océano" (minde the accented é) above BTW.

Well, you just triggered my "inverse translation check" mode there. You could actually say "por" or "para" (these two are quite tricky for English speakers), or even "en", and they would more or less work -- I just wouldn't be 100% happy with any of them. If I wanted to be reasonably compact yet completely unambiguous that I'll be going in May and I'll be staying there for the whole month, I'd simply say:

and of course, many other variants are possible, e.g.:

Please note that the same sentence may or may not trigger some alarms depending on the speaker, as we are always on the look for ways of speaking, astray information, internal coherence, etc. in varying degrees of expectation :)

OK, Team Tapas it is! Much catchier than Team Spanish.

Leo, hablo y escucho bastante bien. Nunca he escrito mucho en

English translation:

Hello teammates! My name is Stephanie and I'm a second grade French Immersion teacher. I live in Toronto with my
husband, our 15-year-old niece and our little white dog. I love languages, music and literature.

I've been studying Spanish for a year and nine months. I started learning because I was going to Spain to walk the
Camino de Santiago with my dad. Nearly a year later, I'm still learning Spanish. I love this language, and I think that
I'll be learning it for my entire life.

I can read, speak and listen fairly well. Writing, however, is very difficult for me. I've never written much in Spanish,
and now it takes a lot for me to put words on a blank page. I'm considering setting myself a challenge and sitting
the DELE C1 in November. I don't need it for work. It's just that I want a goal to motivate myself to deepen my
knowledge. It doesn't matter if I don't pass the test - but of course I want to succeed.

I look forward to learning with you in 2015!

I asked a couple of questions in my log a while ago :) Bumped it now to make it easier to find.
