I wondered if there were any ANKI experts out there who could help me with a problem. I would like to do something with ANKI and I'm not sure if it can do it, or if I just don't know how to do it.
What I would like to do is gradually reveal an answer. Let me give a rather arbitrary non-language learning example. Lets say I'm trying to memorise information about people. I want to memorise the following things:
- What they look like
- Their date of birth
- Their favourite colour.
The way I would like this to work is ANKI starts by showing me their picture and I have to know their name. I press the "show answer" button and it shows me their name, but the card doesn't change it just has another "show answer" button and I have to know their DOB. The card still doesn't change it has another "show answer" button, and I have to know their favourite colour.
The reason I want to chain information together is this information is still related to the person in the picture.
Of course this type of thing would be quite useful for memorising a poem, or lyrics, or a speech. Anyone know how to do this?

Have you tried using the "hint" function?

That is exactly what I'm looking for. Basically it lets me do:
Chinese Audio
hint: chinese characters
hint: pinyin
Answer: translation

I use Bento (on the Mac) for a similar purpose. I simply made the screen so long that I have to scroll down to see the
definition of any word. You could probably do the same thing with Filemaker or any decent database program that
lets you play with the layout…but they wouldn't have the SRS features of Anki.
