I hear you, and I'm worried that all my efforts will go to waste if I don't reach that elusive B2/C1 level. I know I can do tons in 2 months, but probably not "enough".
I was definitely in the "let's squeeze every bit of fluency out of this" camp, at least the last time I checked. I've been known to voice chat after a single day of study, and I usually text chat one hour after I've started learning the language.
If I meet someone who speaks a foreign language in a store, I just HAVE to stalk that person until they tell me about themselves. If I suspect they're a native English speaker, I usually get so excited that I almost scare them off. ;)
In Italian, I voice chatted before I could conjugate verbs. My new friend kept telling me "Ma parla, parla!" and... I spoke. And no, I didn't memorise mistakes by doing this.
I've become more "reasonable" over the years, but I'm not afraid to be thrown in the deep end. Bring it on! :)
I think I need a nice Spanish-speaking friend to get really pumped about this.
In an ideal, worry-free, Carebear-type world, I'd be "reactivating" my English, working on my research paper (which I may not finish anyway) and studying Spanish this summer.
Sadly, my health is quite poor these days, and I think I'd have too much on my plate.
