I'm currently studying using Assimil's Spanish Without Toil and Spanish With Ease, and I noticed that the older course uses "haga el favor de" in phrases where "puede" is used in Ease. Is the former considered more formal and therefore odd in ordinary conversation? Or are they still used equally in daily conversation?

I suggest you try posting on as you might get a few more answers.
Of course this site is still in use but due to
various technical issues an alternative forum was
set up and is a lot more active than this one.

Haga el favor de sentarse = Do a favor, sit down (Polite order)

Puede sentarse = May you sit down (Polite permission)

¿Puede sentarse? = Can you sit down? (Capacity)
