So I've just started learning Japanese. After much research, I found that it would be
easier to learn the kanji before moving on to the vocabulary. Following the advice I'd
found, I've decided to start with making a blog to follow my progress and learn the kanji
using Remembering the Kanji by James W. Heisig. One thing I noticed in the introduction
was that it said that it doesn't teach grammar or compounds. I've tried looking, but I
can't find a reasonable answer to my question; once I've learned the kanji, how should I
move on to learn to use grammar and compounds to I can properly use and understand kanji?

Welcome to the How-To-Learn-Any-Language (HTLAL) Forum!
You might wish to know that, although the HTLAL remains "operational", it is no longer very "active." Owing to recurring and difficult-to-resolve technical and administrative problems, a new, REPLACEMENT FORUM was launched in July, 2015 called: A LANGUAGE LEARNERS' FORUM. I recommend that you register on the new forum and post your question there, as well.
