I was in Majorca last year, and I'd a long conversation, with a taxi driver about the language situation. He said that each of the islands have their own languages, but are required to use the Valencian dialect of Catalan in sign posts. He said the their language was distinct from both Catalan and Castillian, but he felt it was closer to Castillian. Is anyone interested in resurrecting the effort to create a Catalan language profile? I'm

Yes, that's right! I live in a small town near Valencia and everybody speaks Catalan here, but not in big cities. (Although they have to study it at school too). 1 person has voted this message useful |
