Thanks frankshoehorn, I always wanted to listen to Kobe speak Italian.

His accent sounds OK, but he makes some grammatical mistakes and doesn't remember some words. It's understandable since he says he hasn't spoken Italian since grammar school.

I was watching tv in Spanish, and Kobe is actually friends with soccer star Ronaldinho when I heard them speaking it was in Spanish, I am sure Kobe knows some Spanish also.

That is a very interesting link. I know Kobe lived in Italy as a child but I did not know he spoke the language. I thought he went to an all English school while in Italy.

His Italian is very good. Yes, he makes some mistakes, but it’s clear he’s completely at his ease with the language. He’s very spontaneous and confident with some slang expressions such as “tirare la bomba”!

Certo! His father played overseas in Europe and pick it up as a kid. He's an example of someone who learns the language at a young age and maintained it.

What do you mean by maintained it? He says he hasn't spoken Italian in many years. He also has a lot of trouble understanding the questions he is being asked. So much that I think the questions have to be translated into English for him.
