The situation with the no-native-language people is really interesting.
I wonder how they feel about their situation!
Apparently this happens a fair bit in the ex-USSR but people are fairly relaxed about it and take a pragmatic view.
It's interesting with regions where the average person use more than one language as they go about their daily life. This seems to be the case in Brussels, Luxembourg and for some people in Finland. Most people in Singapore is bilingual with English and another language and swap back and forth constantly.
Also in Quebec as I understand, but personally I have not been there.
(I am not counting usage of English at work for business reasons)

After returning from Spain, I had some problems reverting back to English which took me 2 days to overcome. People would ask/say something to me in English, and I'd automatically reply in Spanish! Luckily they just found it funny, or give me an odd look.
