An engrossing film. I recommend going to see it, so I won't give too much away.

Plot summary: Long term Danish expat (in India), runs/works in a children's home. Returns to Denmark on a business trip after long period of absence.

Some interesting language moments
* As a starting point: The film is in English, Danish, Swedish and Hindi
* When the main character is shown around his hotel room (in Copenhagen), the vocabulary for hotel objects is an exercise in the influence/incorporation of English words... air conditioner, 'on/off knapp' (on/off switch), minibar (I realise this is a common phenomenon, but it is a wonderful illustration.)
* The main character (native Danish, although has worked in English in India for 10 or so years) corrects himself in one scene after he says something in Danish which is a very English-native-speaker-way of phrasing the Danish
* Outside the classroom, the children in the home (India) respond in Hindi when addressed by the main character in English
* The husband speaks Swedish to his wife, who always speaks in Danish to him.

I've seen the trailer a couple of times on YouTube, and have been planning to buy it or at least see it. Might get it out this coming Tuesday ($1 night :D). I'm studying Danish now, so it should be good watch.

Interesting; thanks! I'd watched (and enjoyed) this in a subtitled version, but - as an Anglophone - hadn't realized that the husband and wife were speaking different languages to each other. I assume that's because the actors themselves are respectively Swedish and Danish..? And the daughter Anna speaks Danish? Or does she speak in Swedish to the Jørgen Hannson character?

For anyone else who may be interested, here's the IMDB link.   Some people may better know Mads Mikkelsen from his work as Le Chiffre in Casino Royale.

Awakening slumbering posts again, just to post that "the father" is played by Rolf
Lassgård, of "Wallander" fame.

It's a great film, by the way.

And the mother is Sidse Babett Knudsen, of "Borgen" fame.
