Chomsky is a theoretical linguist - he basically reinvented modern linguistics with his book "Syntactic Structures". He proposed the idea of a generative grammar, conducted research on transformations, researched the possibility of a Universal Grammar, amongst many other things. He is concerned primarily with syntax, and is basically unconcerned with the actual pursuit of learning languages.

I am very much looking forward to Dr. Arguelles' book. There are MANY of us that wish to be linguists in the traditional sense; polyglots who are cultured and well employed. Hopefully we on this site will show our support and buy his book when he finally publishes it.
