For the past couple months I've gone through a couple sweeps (enough actually) of the LR method using "Der Gefangene von Askaban" and "Halbblutprinz". Great experience and all but what I REALLY want are the books in hard-copy form. Unfortunately being a broke student it would cost an arm and a leg to buy them (at least from where I'm looking).

Well, I was wondering if someone here has any remote idea about where I can buy these books for a not-so expensive price. I looked on Amazon but "Halbblutprinz" was $69.95 ("Der Gefangene von Askaban" about $37 used)! Aren't there any prices out there similar to their French and Spanish counterparts (which, by the way, are pretty cheap)? Currently I have the German editions on my computer, but in all honesty staring at the computer for hours on end seems to take a toll on my eyes. More so than books would, I'm sure. Besides, e-books are nothing like flipping through pages.

Are many mainstream German novels this expensive? Any "secret" place where I can find used German novels (specifically "Halbblutprinz" and "Der Gefangene von Askaban) for an affordable price? I've seen a couple inexpensive books like "Die Säulen der Erde" for no more than $10 shipped. Sadly though, the prices aren't so consistent with other novels (however, I wish they were). Well thanks in advance for any further information.

German Harry Potter books are sold at abebooks.de for 8,95€ (Askaban hardcover new, $12.90) + 5,50-16,00€ for shipping to the US. Should get you a book for $~20.
