I wasn't sure where to put this, so I'll put it here.
After some time of speaking Turkish, German and French, and not using English in normal conversation, I was asked to speak in English by a Turkish speaker practising his English. At first I actually had trouble speaking in English, because I haven't been. It was as though I had got out of the habit. It came back after a short while, but I would say, based on that, that it is possible to forget your native language, especially if you have been using several other ones.

Yeah, it can be difficult to use your native language when you are a polyglot. After re-learning French, I have been
finding it hard to converse in English. My tongue feels awkward a lot, and many times I have to stop and think
before speaking. English just doesn't seem natural to me anymore. I am not even fluent in French and this happens.
I can imagine how hard it must be for you, especially being a tetraglot.

I have mainly been using English on the Internet, reading and sometimes writing Internet posts. For the time being it has ceased to be my normal spoken language.
Occasionally my other languages interfere with one another, so my brain feels like a spaghetti junction of mismatched vocabulary.
