Hmm... they do have an On The Road for Espagnol du Mexique, Espagnol D'Argentine de poche and Espagnol De Cuba. I know it's not Sans Peine but it's something at least.

What do the "On the Road" courses contain? The usual phrasebook stuff? How long are the recordings? Do they only have the target language?

They are basically phrasebooks, good phrase books worth studying as a beginner, but

I dont think is possible to make a "latin american Spanish". but they could make at least a "Mexican Spanish", if that works they could publish an "Argentinian Spanish" :)

Other companies have made "Latin American Spanish" (and even just "Spanish") courses. They just make a Mexican Spanish or Colombian Spanish or whatever and calls it "Latin American Spanish". 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

Latin American Spanish is a myth. The differences between the Spanish spoken in Mexico City and Buenos Aires are comparable to differences between the English spoken in Vancouver and Sydney. ;) You don't use tú/carro/gasolina/platicar/chavo in Argentina, but vos/auto/nafta/charlar/pibe, and ''guapo '' does not mean beautiful in Argentina, but it is synonym of peleador or valiente. (bully or brave). If you look it up in the RAE dictionary, this is one of the two definitions which are not labeled as ''coloquial''. So, guapo = bully/brave is the oldest meaning in Spanish, which is obsolete in Spain and Mexico, but still the main (or the only) meaning in South America. The RAE dictionary marks the -beautiful- meaning of ''guapo'' as Col (=colloquial).
It would be better if they released a Mexican course and an Argentinian course. The Argentinian Spanish is pretty uniform, which cannot be said of Colombian Spanish. There are 20 dialects/variants of Colombian Spanish, they can't even agree on the informal subject pronoun (is it usted, vos or tú?). In all countries with a lot of valleys you get large dialectal variability (Norway/Switzerland/Colombia). You can't consider the Colombian Spanish a perfect model of Latin American Spanish: usted is informal, more often than not; and the verb coger is used normally, as in Spain, it would sound weird in Mexico, and obscene in Argentina.
