Does anyone have any recommendations for books on interesting polyglots or linguists? Biography or autobiography.

I don't know if this falls into what you are looking for, but two books that have been recommended to me to read (I haven't yet) are called "The Madman and the Professor" and "The Meaning of Everything." I think both books are factual accounts about creation of the Oxford English Dictionary, although I'm not positive about "Madman" (it has do with some dictionary, I believe, though).
They are more concerning linguistics though. This forum is linked to a biography of Mezzofanti, if you want to read it. Or if wish, you can also find the title and Google it, reading the text off of Google books.

I have re-read The autobiographical portion of Barry Farber's "How To Learn Any Language" book repeatedly. It is so inspiring.

For me the best (and only book about this matter I read) is "How to Learn Any Language
Quickly, Easily, Inexpensively, Enjoyably and On Your Own" by Barry Farber.
You can check more in:

In his book he tells no magic tricks but the methods he used to learn... and he always focus on hard work.

I've read a Slovak translation of a biography of Heinrich Schliemann (the discoverer of Troy). The book was written by Heinrich Stoll and actually goes quite deep into the way Schliemann learned languages and describes his methods.

Born on a Blue Day isn't mostly about the author's experiences with language, but it mentions it and is also a very good read on other subjects.
