Hi all,
I made a webapp to see foreign language words in context. http://www.subasub.com - www.subasub.com You are able to search for a specific word in a huge collection of dialogues from movies. This way you can see the usage patterns of a word, which is usually a lot more than what a dictionary definition could convey. It's pretty new and there are probably a couple of rough edges and lots of features that could be added. Still, I would be very happy to get some feedback from you guys, or maybe requests for languages that you would like to see included. :) Cheers, Larion EDIT: One feature I've been thinking of is an export function to Anki with fill-in-the-gaps style flashcards. I actually used flashcards that way anyways (while learning Dutch at least) to get more of a feel for the way words are used. |

I've tried a few words here in there, and at first glance it seems to be a great tool!! I

Update: I added support for basic translations. You can choose between English, German, Dutch,
French, Hungarian, Spanish and Italian. It is not perfect, but still it can help to give you some basic idea to understand the dialogues. It can be turned off in case you want a more immersive learning experience. Also you can know search for complete phrases, not only single words (well you could actually do that earlier too, but it didn't work that well). A particular use case would be to learn English phrasal verbs or other idiomatic expressions. Thanks again for all the positive feedback :) szamvan on 13 November 2015 |

News since last year:
Now the texts are in parallel so you can select a language pair, search for a word and see the dialogues in both languages. Here is a picture: 
There are two new languages that I added last week: https://www.subasub.com/?lang=pt&query=exemplo - Portuguese and https://www.subasub.com/?lang=ru&query=пример - Russian .
