http://forum.language-learners.org/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=1784 - TAC sign-ups are now on. It doesn't seem like there will be anything here on htlal.com.
Also, let me remind everyone that the moderator team cannot guarantee continuity. If you continue posting here, we strongly recommend that you back up the important posts, especially logs.
(Note - I'm not hinting at any insider info about closing this forum or something. We know just as much or little as the rest of the members do)
The easiest way to back up a thread is to click "Printable version" at the bottom and save the html file or copy the text to MS Word etc. If you need help, feel free to ask here!

The domain isn't a problem now, but the site itself can go down any time, like it http://learnanylanguage.wikia.com/wiki/HTLAL_Outages - already has before . We'll obviously get in touch with the administrator if that happens, but we can't guarantee anything.

Well, I don't want this site to be inactive, though. So, whenever I post in my log in the new forum I also post it here.

AFAICT the pages generated via the 'printable version' button lack character encoding information, so if your browser defaults to anything other the UTF-8 (the encoding actually used) you'll get funny characters in most places.
You need to get your browser to use 'UTF-8' encoding in the window where the printable version is opened. How? Depends on your browser. Mine has an application menu with 'View' in it, and a 'Character Encoding' option under that, where UTF-8 can be selected among a gazillion others. Of course YMMV.
Hope this helps.

There was another unexplained outage yesterday, it lasted at least 17 hours. Be sure to back up everything you want to keep.

I just edited the downloaded file to say it uses UTF-8 encoding. For my Japanese
that worked fine.
