Hello,
I decided to start a new log since the last one just got away from the point. This
year my goal is to really understand and learn Spanish. I just saw a topic that might
help me with my little problem.

I'm looking at this page and I think if I make flashcards and really try to stick with
it that I might just learn something better than Duolingo can teach me. I like
Duolingo but at the moment I'm not impress with the teaching method.
So wish me luck on really trying to learn this crazy language the journey continues..

Just pointing out that aprendiendo can't be used as a noun in Spanish (same with any other verb). You don't really need a lot of vocabulary to write in a language, but you need grammar :)

I must slightly correct Serpent. Verbs in infinitive form can actually act as noums sometimes. For instance here: el buen hacer (de alguien) or here: el devenir de los dÃas. The latter is rather poetic.
Don't feel you lack of vocabulary! Although you sentence is still very improvable, as a native speaker of Spanish I can see what you mean with every word and as a whole.

Hola,
No estoy estupida! Duolingo es estupido por que creen yo no se que estoy haciendo.
Esta es que estoy hablando sobre. Example: Here is a little description en espanol: Aqui
esta un poco descripción.
Why did they mark it work because I use the wrong words. This is what they said is the
correct answer Aquà está una breve descripción.

Hola,
So tonight I decided to start reading Berlitz Basic Spanish Book that my stepmother
sent me a couple of years ago that I never looked at. I finish reading the chapter one
not bad and I'm almost done with chapter two. There are twenty-four chapters so it
shouldn't take me to long to finish it if I stay focus on my goal which is to finish
reading this book. It might take me a minute but I'm excited about this since I really
haven't really put much time into my Spanish this week besides watching Sin Senos No
Hay Paraiso on Netflix which take care of my listening part of my Spanish learning. I
really am enjoying the show and am glad that I can watch it from the beginning compare
to when I first watch it in '08 in the middle of the show. Things are making sense to
me now that I am watching the beginning.
Yesterday I started to listening to Coffee Break Spanish I did like three whole
episodes and I stop in the middle of four and haven't had the change to finish that
up. I want to try and do that before the night ends. I like it so far and that pretty
cool I'm learning a lot from the podcast. I am still doing Duolingo but I'm not really
worry about doing their sentences anymore and I really could care less about it. I
think I might be better off doing Italian with Duolingo since I really don't have too
many resources for my Italian yet. But at the moment Italian is sitting on the back
burner until I figure out what I am doing with my Spanish and once I know what I am
doing with Spanish then I will work in Italian but for the time being I'm just
focusing on Spanish since it my first language I fell in love with.

Hola,
Last night I read the first three chapters of Berlitz Basic Spanish and I enjoy it but
I
think I will re-read them because I think I was just to excited about reading the
book. I
wasn't really studying just reading. I notice that there are characters in the
chapters I
didn't really notice until chapter three when I started laughing and I didn't really
know
but I like the conversation but it didn't sink it that I was having fun reading it.
Chapter three was also kind of tricky because there were some words I either didn't
know
or didn't know how to pronounce. Thank good for Spanishdict.com and google translate
for
pronunciation.
P.S. I am reading the chapters out loud to hear how I sound and since this book is for
beginners I'm just taking it all in before I go on to anything else at the moment.
Once I finish I don't know what my plan is but that won't be for a while so I don't
need to have a plan at the moment. I just enjoying really diving into Spanish this
year.

Hello,
So I did only one lesson in my Berlitz Basic Spanish Book because it has a lot of
information and I think I will give up on Duolingo for the time being because I think
it's not what I need at the moment. Doing just one sentence isn't really learning
anything and some of there sentences I don't understand because it's not in context. I
also uploaded the first disc of Berlitz Spanish Guaranteed into I-Tunes last night so
I can get more listening practice when I'm not watching Sin Senos.. along with Coffee
Break, which I didn't listen to last night so I still need to finish lesson 4 since I
didn't get to finish it last weekend. I think I have my language plan for Spanish and
I am very excited about it.
Here is it
1) Read from Berlitz Basic Spanish Book
2) Watch Sin Senos No Hay Paraiso
3) Listen to Coffee Break
4) Update my log!
What do you think? I think I have a good thing going I just need to stick with it. I'm
just so glad I finally have a plan about Spanish it's taken me a long time to get to
this point. I'm not going to give up now!

Berlitz is a really nice graded reader or interlinear text. I love reading mine from time to time. Of course I forget things but I really like the method.
Read and Think Spanish is a really nice book with some really nice short stories. The nice thing is as you progress (Don't take that wrong as you might be further along the Spanish road than me) you can re-read the stories and really see your progress.

So let me tell you what I did last night I downloaded Coffee Break In Spanish and
newsinslowitalian. I listen to the newsinslowitalian before I went to bed last night
and it was nice to hear Italian for once. I finish lesson 4 in Coffee Break and it
felt great to finally finish it.
Today I just reread lesson four in my Berlitz Basic Spanish because that is all I had
time for today and after I reread it I was making up sentences using the words in the
lessons and I think I did a okay job.
I will move on to lesson five in Berlitz Basic Spanish tomorrow and try to watch some
Sin Senos. If not I will just do Coffee Break tomorrow in it's place and when I can
get to Sin Senos I will watch it. It's getting good to so I just need to find the time
to watch it.

Hola,
I had a busy day I wasn't expecting I had to go to see my uncle and he was sick but he
will be okay. But I was planning to do a lot of language learning today since I
couldn't really do that yesterday. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
I just got done listening to news in slow Italian for beginners and it's a play of 22
acts. I re-listen to act 1 and downloaded act 2. I'm saving act 2 for once I get
better in understand everything I learn in Act 1. I really like it so far.
I still haven't seen any of Sin Senos but I'm not too worried. Oh I sign up for
italki.com last night I have no idea what made me do that. I'm not ready to speak in
Spanish but I guess did it so when I am ready I have a few option I can choose from. I
know this part of my learning is way in the future but when I get there I will be
ready. For now I am enjoying reading my Berlitz Book and listening to my Italian.

Hola,
Well today was busy because I had to do other things and I just got done read lesson 6
and it was dealing with more numbers. This time in form of money and I might have to
go over this lesson when I don't have a pounding headache.
That is all I did with Spanish today but for Italian I did a lot! I started to make
pdf files for act 1 I only did the first page but I will continue to work my way
through act 1 pages. Then once I convert all the pages then I can put them on my I-Pad
and I can listen and read at the same time with will be amazing.
I will no be watching Sin Senos at the moment because I have my hands full with
Italian but I will try and watch some soon hopefully this weekend. It's the best time
to watch it anyway. I get more done on the weekend with Sin Senos then I do during the
week.

So I just read another lesson in my Berlitz Basic Spanish and it was funny I really like
that lesson. I might want to re-read it just for the fun of it because I enjoyed it so
much. I enjoy reading the lessons out loud because I can hear my pronunciation. I know
there are some words I won't get right but I can just use Spanishdict.com to help me with
that and if I don't like that way they say it I can always got to Google Translate to
help me out. I am having fun with Spanish at the moment and I might just put Italian back
on hold just for a bit.

I am enjoying my journey into Italian with Slow news in Italian it's fun I am still work
with act 1. I made flashcards for act 1 and this weekend I'm going to study them and get
really good at them this weekend and maybe I can move on to act 2 but I'm not rushing
things I want to make sure I really understand the material.
I think I will give Spanish a rest for a while until I can get Italian more under my
belt. I don't mind letting Spanish go for a while. I've been studying this language on
and off for 18 years! I think it's time to give it a break and learn something new.

going to enjoy this journey with these three languages. I'm almost done with my Spanish

I know it's been a minute since the last time I check in but believe it's been tough but
I got through my rough patch with language and back on track as of the last couple of
weeks. I really am enjoying Spanish at the moment and I don't know if I had a break
through or not. I am also enjoying Italian I really think it's start to stick just a
little. I put French on hold for the moment but don't worry I really dive into it once I
have a better understanding of Spanish and Italian. I just wanted to check it to say I'm
still working.

Hello,
I had a very progress week I really got my fingers into the Berlitz Self-Teacher
Spanish book that I Order last fall. I work all week on lesson one and I really
enjoyed it. I put the vocab words into quizlet and really got a deep understanding of
the words I'm working with. Now for this upcoming week I'm going to use the sentence
they gave me and study those. I am losing a day of study next week because of a
friend's wedding but that's okay I need to have some fun right? But I really think
that Spanish will get a lot easier with Berlitz and I am kind of getting off of the
Duo train. I don't really care to much for it because of the way they are set up and I
like the book i'm using at the moment. All this week I really love language learning
so much that I didn't want to go to bed but I did. I think I did a lot of study
because I took yesterday off because I needed a day off. I listen to some Spanish
music today the Barrio Boyzz and I wasn't really actively trying to figure out what
they were saying. I don't want to at the moment I just needed another way of getting
my Spanish in this weekend. That was my treat today by listening to some Spanish
music. I review my flashcards and started on my sentences for next week. I can't wait
to see how good I am with using my vocab in sentence form works. I know how to say the
words but now let's see what they sound like in sentence form. I can't wait.

Hi,
So yesterday I was at the other website that is connected to this site and I was reading
about things that got me thinking that maybe I should get a new e-book for my kindle that
is on my IPad. Well I did and I think I jump the gun on this because I only read two
pages and I have ten words I didn't know from the two pages. I put the words in Quizlet
and I just feel like I need more vocab in my system before get another e-book and it was
a children series book. It was free on Amazon so I am glad I got it but I think I will
just continue to focus on vocab at the moment. Reading with come in times due.

Hello,
I feel pretty low today because I decided to move on to Lesson 2 vocab on my Berlitz Self

three words I haven't figure out how to write yet. I know that I should just go back and
do the flashcards again until I get it but I thought I could do the learn section to see
where I stand. The first time I did I got 50% which was good I thought but as I keep
doing it I got more harder to remember how to spell the word. I will go back to the
flashcards until I feel I can do the learning section better. It will be a very long week
if I can't get past the learning section on Quizlet. I won't get up I will just stay calm
and get through it until my brain understand what I need it to do.

Hi again,
Well I have been reading other people journals and it got me thinking how I could make my
language journey better. First I change my Berlitz step by step flashcards. I am doing the
instant conversations differently. Instead of having my card do one side Spanish and the other
side English I am going to do it like a real conversation between people. It will help me with
my Spanish and I just need something to work at this moment. I feel good about the changes I
did let's just hope it works.
I also did a little changes to the Berlitz self-teacher Spanish flash cards to so I am getting
myself step up for success. Wish me luck.

excited about this. I think I will add this on to my other books I have for Spanish. I could
be doing too much but I can do this. I'm in no rush to go anywhere so I have all the time in

Hello,
So I was at the other site and found a log that I love and here the link
http://forum.language-learners.org/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1815 - http://forum.language-
learners.org/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1815
I really enjoyed reading that log so much that I am just reading my Step by Step Spanish
book and will input the vocab in later. Once I finish reading and inputting vocab then I
will move on to the next book. I will work my way down from there. I must thank Clare for
her idea and organization on how she organize her language learning. It's been a crazy week
for me this week because I just keep adding ideas this week and really didn't get too much
done. I did really last night my Step by Step Spanish out loud and there is only a few
words I didn't know how to pronounce which to me is pretty good. I got to step four in
reading. The instant conversations are interesting and I am enjoying just reading it and
now worrying about vocab or sentences at the moment. Once I finish I will go back and
really get my hand dirty sort of speak with this book. So Clare is my inspiration for the
week. I know I can make a dent in my language learning if Clare can do it so can I. I
bought a children book from amazon
http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DRA4LCW/ref=nav_t imeline_asin?
ie=UTF8&psc=1 - http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DRA4LCW /ref=nav_timeline_asin?
ie=UTF8&psc=1
I tried to read it but I need to know more vocab I think or just understand my verbs better
but either way I won't start reading this until I finish reading the books I already have.
Then last night I got my sister Spanish school books and started reading the introduction
and it's okay but I think I will wait for finish reading that book. There are two more
textbooks behind that one so that's on the back burner at the moment. Like I said I had way
too many ideas and nothing was getting done. :(
I think my problem is that I want to get everything done at the same time and it's just
impossible to achieve when my brain is going at 1,000 miles a minute with ideas. So I am
just going to try and slow down so my brain understand this is a marathon not a sprint.

to the many things I need to start to get me better at Spanish. It's has 24 unit and I only
did some of it in the past. Now that I really am determined to work this language so I can get
somewhere. I really need to stop reading all these logs because I'm not getting work done. But
I like to work at night anyway the day I just like to see what I can do. I did do some work
today. I read step 4 in my Spanish step by step book and I couldn't get the words so I went to
http://quizlet.com/ - https://quizlet.com/ to put the words I didn't know and I
started to review it because these words I really didn't understand how to pronounce.

Good morning everyone,
Last night I couldn't sleep so I decided to work on Spanish. That was a fun idea because I
couldn't sleep and Spanish was on my brain. Last night I downloaded NaturalReader for my
computer so I could hear my Spanish work. Then in the last hour or so I found a website that
can take what I put on NaturalReader and turn it into a mp3.
http://www.fromtexttospeech.com/ - http://www.fromtexttospeech.com/
I bookmark this site so I can find it when I am ready to turn my written Spanish words into
listening MP3 files. I can't wait for next week because I have a lot of things I want to do
with my Spanish Step By Step Book.
I have made mad progress today unlike yesterday where I wasn't really focus. I sure did make
up for my lack of motivation yesterday. All I need now is too get through the wedding I'm
going to this morning and I will be great if I don't fall a sleep. (I only got two hrs of

Hola todos,
Where to start? Well I guess I was reading Bolio's language log this past weekend and I did
get some really good idea's on how to continue my Spanish. But I think I did the most
amazing thing today. I rediscover lingq.
https://www.lingq.com - https://www.lingq.com . I sign up for lingq four years ago
and really didn't understand how the site works. Maybe it's because I didn't have enough
material to understand it. But I decided to give the site another go and this time I sign up
for one of there plans. It the next one from the free plan it only cost ten dollars a month
and I can upload all the material I want. I'm excited because I started to important my
Berlitz Self-teacher Spanish book into lingq. I have only done two lesson so far but I stop
so I could telling you what I was doing.
I found how to do the audio from a site call Text to Speech.
http://www.fromtexttospeech.com/ - http://www.fromtexttospeech.com/ .
What is so cool about this site is that what every text you want you can here it before you
download it. So this site plus lingq is a wonder start to really get my Spanish underway. I
will still use Quizlet but this is just a step up on what I was doing on Quizlet. I can't
wait to start studying.

Buenos Dias Todos,
Before I went to bed this morning I imported lesson 3 of The Berlitz Self-Teacher
Spanish and that was a very long lesson (chapter). I was glad when I was done because
it took me maybe ninety minutes to write the lesson and get the audio. The audio part
was easy it was writing out the lesson because I can't get the audio unless the lesson
is done. I will translate the lessons later.
Now I am working on lesson 4 so I will keep you updated on how this is coming along. I
did get to do lesson 1 with the audio and read it. I think that was the fun part last
night. Writing these lesson in https://www.lingq.com - https://www.lingq.com
will be a good thing but at the same time I know I can only do a couple at a time
because there is a lot of writing for me. I'm not complaining but it's a lot of work.
But I'm up for it it's all good.

study lesson five this week and I might find time to finish up lesson 7. But that's not my
goal at the moment. The thing is that as I look at lesson five I know that this is where I
need to not rush because it's only going to get more intense from here. The last two lesson
where good but now the real work begins.

Hola,
I went to the library today and their Spanish program is still not in. But I think I might
know what it is. Oxford take off in Spanish. Why I think that is because they have two other
in the series Italian and Japanese. I went to Amazon and looked at it and I don't have the
money to get it at the moment but it's on my wish list. The reason why I want it is it told me
the different between Tu and Usted!

Hello,
Okay so today I was looking at someone log and Keith gave me a good idea. Before I tell you
let me post what he wrote in his log.
"I want to concentrate on one sentence at a time. In each new sentence I could learn maybe
two new words. So, I've decided to go back to the FSI material and create my own study
method from it. So I've started going through it, beginning with Module 1 and taking a
sentence a saving it by itself. This way, by looping one sentence, I can really concentrate
on a little bit. I focus on the new words, absorb the sound and intonation of the sentence,
and observe the pattern. One sentence is usually about one second long, so I listen to it
100 times. Of course, it still takes some time to find the sentences and then save them. So
far, I have 40 sentences consisting of 50 different words."
Well I am going through the rest of Keith logs and found this quote from him:
"This post marks the beginning of my training with Assimil. I did one hour on lesson 1. I
spent 15 minutes at a time on it. I have the lessons edited down to just the dialogue and
the spaces removed. So my lesson one is 15 seconds. I was able to loop through that 250
times."
Now I went back to my lesson 1 and really looked at it then now I am really studying lesson
1 like Keith did with his Chinese. So thanks Keith for making a log and telling everyone how
you are going to study.
Now that I showed you what he wrote I think I will go back and really work on my
pronunciation because if I want to learn speaking and listening is very important just like
reading and understanding is. So I went to one of my sites that I haven't been too in a
while. It's http://forvo.com/ - http://forvo.com/ . It help with words so you can
pronounce words. This will help me in my Spanish a lot they have native speakers say the
words for you. Very convenient if you ask me. That's all for now.

Hello,
I took off the weekend for language learning because I think I have been doing a lot the last
two weeks. I review lesson 1 this morning and listen to lesson 2 for 15 minutes today. I even
spoke with the record for five out of the 15 minutes. I like doing that. That is what I will
be doing from now on. I will do lesson 3 tomorrow. Fifteen minutes but I will review the other
lessons before I start the new lesson. I know I have only put 7 lesson into lingq but I'm okay
with that. I am taking my time with this and I am excited about the way I am learning Spanish.
I am still doing Duo but just 30 pts a day nothing to big. I will start taking the weekends
off because I don't need to do language learning 7 days a week it's just too much.

Hello,
So I want to start dabbing in Reading in Spanish and so I did the first chapter of Mi Amor de
Wattpad. I think I need more work it that department because I like the idea of reading in
Spanish but I don't think I can handle it at this moment. It's very sad to me because I really
want to do this reading in Spanish to learn more vocab but my understanding of Spanish right
now is very low. I will keep plugin away at me learning the language then trying to read it at
the moment. I just wish I could do both and be happy.

So about two months ago I find a new website to continue my love of Spanish called
http://www.lingualia.com/ - http://www.lingualia.com/ . It's a lot better than
Duo and has more to it than just looking at picture and translating text. It has vocab
section, grammar section, phonetics section and a dialog section. After all that their is
a check point section to test you on what you have learn. It's truly is the next step
after duolingo. Spanish and English are the only language available on the site right now
but I hope they add more languages. They have four different levels it starts off at A1
and goes all the way up to B2! That is pretty amazing if you ask me. I'm so glad I found
this site to continue my Spanish learning.
I started dabbling in Russian last month and boy is that language hard! I don't know what
I'm going to do with this language but I'm excited to start a new languge.

Honestly lots of sites claim to take you to a high level, the issue is that they're almost never enough.
BTW everyone has moved to http://forum.language-learners.org/ - http://forum.language-learners.org/ :)

Rdearman contacted the hosting company and they fixed it. Maybe we've outgrown that hosting and need a better one...

I've been wanting to learn Spanish for quite some time now. But I've always been bust to
attend a proper class and perhaps I'll be completely lost without knowing the basics.
I'm practicing some basics on Duolingo. wish me luck.

Hello again,
I think I keep forgetting I have a blog on this site. Last week I once again got back
into my language studies. So this time around I'm using my Spanish step by step book by
Charles Berlitz. Last week I did instant conversation: In a cafe and love studying the
conversation and this week I move on to the next conversation which takes place in a
taxi. I had gotten use to the cafe one that when I heard the conversation on Quizlet it
was too fast. So had to slow it down. I really am excited about get a better grasp on
Spanish. I think I have a plan but I don't want to say yet because my motivation might
slow down. But the way I am going about with this is good for me so far. So raise your
glass for me in not giving up in learning this language.

Hello,
I haven't done too much studying today but the night is still early. I did one lesson of
Duolingo and tried to review my instant conversation for this week but I was just too
distracted by other things. I need to be less on Youtube and force more on listening to
my instant conversation. The week is still young so I'm not going to worry about it. I
need to go and head over to lang-8 to write over there since I'm write in English here.
But nothing has happen today so maybe tomorrow I will write something about my day
tomorrow on lang-8.
