Description of what is on the sound file:
This is lesson 41 from Assimil's Italian with Ease. I've been studying Italian
on and off for a couple of years in a classroom setting, however I have
started to use the Assimil method recently. I am currently on lesson 56 so I
haven't finished the program yet. I'm a native English and Spanish speaker.

Andiamo a fare delle spese!

E adesso Ida e Francesca vanno a fare la spesa. Vanno prima dal
fruttivendolo- Vorrei delle mele per favore.
Quante ne vuole?- Un chilo. E vorrei anche due chili di arance e delle
banane.
Le vuole molto mature, le banane?- No, le preferisco un po' acerbe. Puo'
darmi anche del basilico?

Poi vanno dal salumiere.
Un attimo di pazienza signora, La servo subito...Eccomi a Lei. Che cosa
desidera?- Vorrei soltanto mezzo chilo di pane e tre etti di prosciutto
cotto..
Posso consigliarLe il nostro prosciutto crudo? E' una vera delizia con
qualche fettina di melone!

E infine vanno in farmacia.
Buon giorno, signora. In che cosa posso servirLa?- Mi serve un
dentifricio e un buon spazzolino da denti, non troppo duro.
Le faccio vedere i tipi che abbiamo. Le suggerisco di prendere questo,
che e' molto morbido. Desidera altro?- Si, un tubo di aspirina e una
scatola di cerotti.
Questo e' il suo scontrino. Le faccio un pacchetto. Intanto si accomodi
alla cassa.

Ecco fatto! E forse resta loro anche il tempo di andare a vedere a mostra.

Translation:
And now Ida and Francesca are going shopping. First they will go to the
fruit shop- I'd like some apples please.
How many of them do you want?- One kilo. And I would also like two
kilos of oranges and bananas.
Do you want very ripe bananas?- No, I prefer them a bit green. Can you
also give me some basil?

Then they go to the delicatessen.
Just a minute, Madam, I'll serve you immediately. Here I am. What would
you like?- I just want half a kilo of bread and three hundred grams of
cooked ham.
May I recommend you our raw ham? It's really delicious with a few slices
of melon.

And finally, they go to the chemist.
Good morning, Madam. What can I do for you?- Give me a tube of
toothpaste and a good toothbrush, not too hard.
I'll show the the different kinds we have. I suggest you take this one,
which is very soft. Would you like anything else?- Yes, a tube of aspirin
and a box of Band-Aids.
This is your cash-register ticket. I'll make a parcel. In the meantime
please to go the cashier.

There, that's done! And perhaps they still have time to go and see the
