MADRID.- Alrededor de 100 voluntarios y personal socio sanitario de Cruz Roja Española (CRE) trabajan en Melilla para atender la creciente llegada de inmigrantes que, en su mayoría, sufren heridas de diversa consideración producidas al saltar la valla y síntomas incluso de posibles problemas psicológicos debido a la desubicación tras días, semanas o incluso meses de viaje desde sus países de origen.

La puesta en marcha del albergue provisional para 500 personas al aire libre por parte de Cruz Roja obedece a la petición realizada por la Dirección General de Protección Civil y Emergencia, basada en el Convenio firmado entre ambos organismos en el año 1998. Su actualización se realiza a través de un plan de acción anual.
