Newbie questions to veteran TACers:

Is there a way to be notified of updates to people's logs? My guess is some people will update their log daily, others weekly or less often, and it could be rather time-consuming to check everyone's Schnitzel log (and maybe even frustrating to check multiple logs if there aren't any updates).

Also, in general, what kind of things do people put in their logs? Or what do other people find interesting to look at? It sounds like a fair number of people drop out, for those of you who have been successful at doing the TAC, any recommendations so we newbies don't end up in the dropouts?

Thanks in advance for any advice. And if these questions are answered elsewhere, just point me in the right direction.

The procedure is the same as with any regular forum thread: post in it and you're subscribed, or scroll down to the end of the page and click on the link that reads 'Watch this topic for replies'. You'll be automagically be emailed every time there's an update until you unsubscribe.

Everyone should have their own style. I, on one hand, want to post weekly or fortnightly a rather dry report of what I have studied, with the default being 'no study done' if I don't post, and on the other hand I hope interesting discussions will spark spontaneously from other people's comments. Thus I have 'officially unrestricted' discussion subjects to anything that doesn't end up in name-calling.

Keep some self discipline and try to grow bonds with your teammates -- I for one tend to skip anything 'personal' until I've developed some personal link to the poster, and I can tell you it takes some time to do that if links have to stem from comments on the forum alone :)

Edit: I know my log description may sound a bit contradictory, but this is one of my Tac'12 team mates' log: page 19, page 24, and page 26, and it works -- it is what I would like mine to look like - a seemingly unstoppable studying machine and many very interesting comments on the side :)

I'm back home! I've read we already have a godfather, great!

I'll probably begin my TAC blog next weekend. Last week I was on holidays so I left aside languages as long as everything else. However, I adquired my first book in German, 'Drei Männer im Schnee'. Let's say it doesn't look that complicated. I'll see.
