This is inspired by the consistency threads at WriYe. From there:
Consistency is the key: pick a goal and try to reach it as many days as you can. Every day that you manage to reach your goal, add a number to the count. If you miss a day, go back to 0 and start again the next day.
Consistency is also important in language learning, so set a goal and aim to achieve it!
As long as your goal is something you can measure, it doesn't matter how exactly! You can count minutes, pages read, pages written, Assimil or GLOSS lessons, book2 pages... Anything will do! Flexible goals like "study for 30 minutes" are allowed. See the next post for some examples of completed goals.
You can set your goal only for weekdays, only for the weekends, for every other day etc. (Ask if you're not sure) When you really need to, you can also substitute your goal for something comparable, for no more than three days at a time. This needs to be planned in advance.
This is not meant to be an extremely long-term challenge. Goals change and that's fine! This means you're making progress. Inactive goals will be listed as completed unless you consider your goal dropped/failed.
Now on to the technical details. Starting from the third post in this thread, all posts should contain a list of goals. When updating your goals, please use the quote function - don't copy, or the bolding will be lost. Erase everything that's not between the two lines of tildes - ~~~~~~~
You can also write anything you want after these lines - announcing your new goal, describing what exactly you did, congratulating other members on their achievements etc. If you have a question, are dropping a goal etc, you still need to quote the latest post, even if you aren't adding anything new.
Don't worry about making more than one post in a row. Please avoid editing, as someone else may quote your original post. If you keep the thread open for a long time, please refresh before posting.
If you drop a goal, please do others a favour and come here to remove yourself from the list. You will be removed after about a week of not updating - if you are taking a break, please announce it and reset your number to zero. I also reserve the right to fix your typos.
It's up to you how to count the days. from 00:00 till 23:59, or from when you wake up to when you go to bed. Just don't switch from one way to the other :D
Be sure to keep track of your goals as you complete them; they will be listed below, including those from the old consistency thread. Have a look if you don't understand how this works, by the way.
Last but not least, please use a recognizable version of your username. Minor differences concerning small/capital letters, spaces, numbers and punctuation marks are okay if you're not making all these changes at once.
It's never too late to join! You don't have to be a participant of TAC or any other challenge.
Not to be confused with the Russian consistency thread. It's a cool thread for learning the vocabulary together.
In turn, it inspired the Scandinavian and French word of the day thread.
Let me know if you start such a thread in a different language. I'll add a shout-out :)
