Hello everyone.
I am currently working my way through Assimil and have borrowed a grammar book to look
up the things that Assimil doesn't explain very well. My question is, what do you
suggest doing once one has finished Assimil? Reading books/watching tv of course, but
are there courses that can help you advance any further?
Ciao a tutti

Buona fortuna!

Non sono d'accordo... Only if that's a major factor for your motivation, imo.

You have a point about the culture, but I think it's better to read non-translated books or
watch non-translated films because they usually have many idiomatic expressions that wouldn't
be translatable and the style is much more free in the original version.

I could recommend Dino Buzzati's books as original Italian reading.

In maggio no :)
I've been thinking that we need longer-term challenges, given how few have completed them so far. So, the non-dominant voice challenge is extended until the end of the year.
And the summer challenge is to try something new. It can be a technique (not limited to that list!), a new type of (semi-)native materials, even a new Romance language to flirt with ;) It can be specific like a new format of SRS cards or more vague.
Obviously, you can try several new things, and you're welcome to extend the challenge to non-Romance languages and tell us what you did :)
You can try something you've unsuccessfully tried before, as long as you put in at least 2x more time now. 20 hours are considered a good timeframe for deciding whether it's the right technique etc for you. But that's just a suggestion, and it doesn't apply to all types of things you can try. Still, this is not supposed to be a challenge you can complete in 15 minutes ;) For small and flexible tasks, the idea is to try something new and incorporate it into your study plan.

I like the idea of summer challenge, I will definitely try "10000 sentences" method.
