Ah, thanks. I'm not interested in autobiographies. I read a novel a long time ago called The Game about a girl in a mental hospital that was pretty decent. I thought maybe it had been translated into Korean :P

I'm back in Kuwait! I've been pretty inactive while I was away, so sorry that this is late.
I remember vocabulary mainly because I see it so much. Also, learning the Hanja has helped me retain Sino-Korean words much easier. The SRS has been good for me at learning Hanja, but not so much with vocabulary. Most of my sentences in my current deck came from the Keroro comics. Comic books seem to have short and memorable lines that are ideal for an SRS. I have mixed script on the front of my cards, and definitions from the Kor-Kor dictionary on the back. TAC 2009 Day 155-156
Well I went through my latest book much faster than the previous one. In the past two days I read all 239 pages of 나만큼 미쳐봐 by 임요환 and found it very inspirational. I may go back through this one again later for vocabulary work. Remix, it's still just called "The Game" in Korean. Month 11 Status Update
Due to technical difficulties this status update is a few days late... Let's see, right now I'm reading adult level books relatively easily, but still have a lot of vocabulary to learn. I have a backlog of 850 due cards in Anki, since I didn't do my reps during vacation. I would say I understand 95% of any song (excluding rap) I listen to, and I rarely have to ask for clarification when people are speaking to me. In summary, I speak Korean, but I'm not fluent. Anyway, where do I go from here? I still have to learn more vocabulary, listen to harder material, and continue my reading and speaking practice (my dancing too?). In previous months I have focused on one skill at a time, but it might be better now to try to work on all of them each day, if possible. What I'm going to try this month is to divide my free time into one hour or half hour intervals and do one of my three effective activities I have found through the course of my studies (vocabulary lists/SRS, free reading, and intensive listening). Speaking skill will have to come naturally when I meet up with my friends, and I still don't feel the need to work on my writing until I'm much further along. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

TAC 2009 Day 158
I started doing vocabulary study today but had the urge to tweak it. With my previous cards I learned the Hanja really well, but didn't retain the vocabulary as much as I wanted. Also, I think I spent too much time writing in my notebook when it wasn't helping me much. So my cards today now have the Korean definition on the front, and I have to input the word itself in Hangul. Also on the back there are some definitions of words used in the front definition. Sometimes these are the Korean ones and sometimes I use the English ones. I don't want to spend too much time reading them. Like this: Front: [―짜][명사] 1.음악에서, 리듬의 바탕으로 센박과 여린박이 규칙적으로 되풀이되는 음악적 시간의 기본 단위. Answer: 박자 Back: 拍子 되―풀이1[되―/뒈―][명사][하다형 타동사][되다형 자동사] 같은 말이나 행동을 거듭함. 같은 상황이 거듭됨. 단위(單位)[명사] 1.길이·넓이·무게·양 등을 수치(數値)로 나타내기(재기) 위하여 계산의 기본으로 정해 놓은 기준. [m·g·□ 따위.] I still want to work in the Hanja somehow, so this will probably change. For instance, it might make sense to have the supplementary definitions on the front instead of the back. Also, I have yet to see if I can properly remember in this way. Today I started working through the words I didn't know in 나만큼 미쳐봐 and read in 스스로 깨어난 자 붓다 up to page 46 / 285. 1 person has voted this message useful |
