Update:
Mandarin
- only revision again
Italian
- Pimsleur Italian II 6-8
- Assimil 35-38

Update:
Mandarin
- one Assimil lesson - have to work more on Mandarin! Now I have a problem of forgetting the old material. Now that I've done some revision I realise how many characters I forgot. I think, it is treated with more input.
Italian
- Pimsleur Italian II 9-12
- Assimil 39-45
- ItalianPod: 11 Newbie lessons and 2 Elementary

I've just watched one of loki's videos in Italian and I can say I understood everything! Really motivating. Looking at what I've achieved in Italian for the past 2,5 months really encourages me to go on with the language. Unfortunately, I tend to lose interest in others...

Update:
Mandarin
- last week visiting a bookshop I came across a book "Chinese Calligraphy" and bought it. A really good book it turned out to be! The book explains the origin and use of 214 basic, "key" characters. I'm in need of such a source now to put everything I know in order. So, studying it.
Italian
- Pimsleur Italian II 13-17
- Assimil 46-49. Entering the active phase!
- ItalianPod: listened to 3 Elementary lessons.

It's getting cooler here: not 38 as it was yesterday, but only 30 degrees centigrate. The brain melts.
Mandarin
- continued work with "Chinese Calligraphy" and made flashcards for the characters I studied in the past 3 months (first wrote years, but I haven't studied Mandarin so long). Didn't couny them, but there are lots of them.
Italian
- Pimsleur Italian II 18-21
- Assimil 50-54
All in all, today when my son asked me "What is the English for plane?" and I nearly said "avion", I realized English also deserves some attention. Of course, I read extensively for the thesis, listen to the "Verbal Advantage" program, but I also plan to listen to some audiobooks and read a couple of books in the nearest future.

Spanish:
- started reading " Cuentos de Eva Luna" by Isabel Allende
English:
went for the classics
- covered "Agnes Grey" by Ann Bronte and finishing "Wuthering Heights" by Emily, her sister. Happy to come across the words from the verbal advantage!

Long time no see.
Haven't written recently due to the problems with the Internet and the beginning of the schoolyear. Not much done, but I'm gradually becoming involved into the new curriculum and trying to squeeze the languages into it.
Mandarin
- still studying the same tale
+ began a fable from another book
+ began to read a grammar book
Italian
- Pimsleur Italian II to the end and 5 Units from Italian III
Spanish:
- continued reading " Cuentos de Eva Luna" by Isabel Allende
English:
- read "The Day of the Triffids" by J. Wyndham and almost finished "The Tenant of Windfell Hall" by Ann Bronte

Gradually falling into the rut.
Mandarin
- the grammar book going fine. I don't understand claims of some people that grammar is an unnecessary thing. At the begining yes - but then studying a grammar book helps to put everything in order in the head!
- studied two fables from the new book (scriptorium and characters)
- at last got Heisig. Read it a bit. Came to the conclusion that such mnemonics are great for remembering hanzi but as for the prononciation context is indispensable.
Italian
- Pimsleur Italian III 6-10
Spanish:
- started reading "El Caballo de Troya" by J.J.Benitez and listening to the audio. I added audio because the style of the author seemed a bit difficult to me, and when I listen to the same content after having read it, I'm more attentive. So, 74 pages covered, 790 in total!
So, the schoolyear has began and I have more work on my hands, therefore I'll focus now on one language, that is Chinese, Spanish is going to be in the form of listening and reading, and, alas, Italian will get the least attention and German, I fear, none, as I don't feel motivated enouph to study it now.
