Finished FSI Unit 3. It took me almost 2,5 weeks. Have to speed up. It took me 2 hours to make vocab and translation drills. But at least now I feel more confident about declinations. Boring drills work miracles sometimes.

Hi, Sprachprofi!
You know, I once looked through this site. The podcasts aimed at beginners are too easy for me. The ones for intermediate learners have to do with songs, and it's not to my taste. What I like about DW lessons is that there are is an interesting plot and characters. It's so different froms others of this kind. |

The new intermediate series (season 2) is not about songs, it's a story about an American looking for work in Germany. A lot of listeners enjoyed finding out what their favourite songs meant and learning some grammar meanwhile, but we never planned to do that forever. For the new season, the goal is that people can successfully test B1 by the summer at least and B2 by the end of the year, while remaining an enjoyable and interesting program. It's an ambitious goal, but then we had a lot more time to plan this year's program - GermanPod101's launch last March was a bit hasty.
Apart from that, this year we will offer:
- a new series for complete beginners, featuring a mystery story
- advanced lessons that are not always audioblogs on Landeskunde, also featuring very diverse types of texts, including literature even
- an accent improvement series that can appeal to beginners and advanced learners alike
If you want to check out the new series, I would be happy to hear your feedback.
Btw always use the address with index.php at the end for pod101 sites, I wanted to run away screaming when I first saw the new front page.

Sprachprofi,
I listened to one of the podcasts, and I think I'll be downloading the following ones, though I'm not sure about exercices. Thank you! The only thing I want to note, that the hosts should be more animated, they are too reserved, from my point of view. But maybe it's German/English temperament that shows itself.

I finished revising lesson 7 in my Chinese textbook yesterday, and started a new chapter of Harry Potter in Spanish today. So, I think Sunday is going to be my starting point. By the next Sunday I must have everything listed above done. We'll see what will come out of it.

Hey! :)
How's Harry Potter going? Is the Spanish version really different from the original? The Russian one was, and in a bad way, I think. Are you doing anything else for your Spanish? Keep up the good work! :)

Hi, Lindley!
Harry Potter is ok! As I read it in English so long ago, I completely forgot the details, so I was so interested in what was going to happen that I listened to three chapters instead of one before going to bed ;) The fact that there are a few unknown words doesn't impede understanding at all. But I wrote out all the new words from chapter 2, now they are in Anki. Part of the job for this week is done! For my Spanish part, I now have only to shadow a ssl4you podcast.
I can't say anything about the quality of the Spanish version of HP, as I don't know the language so well yet.

What I managed to do during the week:
- completed FSI German U4 (listened to the tapes twice, read through all the grammar pages, wrote out the new words and just nice phrases from the dialogue, did the scriptorium of the dialogue, did the translation of drills);
- worked with Harry Potter in Spanish Chapter 2 + listened twice;
- completed Unit 8 from my Chinese textbook.
Anki: 548 facts, 167 of them - Mandarin, the rest - German + Spanish
What I failed to do:
- I'm not satisfied with my shadowing of ssl4you, have to work more on it;
- haven't finished a slowgerman podcast (too many new words, still writing out);
- didn't listen to chinesepod often enouph.

A week passed and I must confess I didn't do everything planned as I didn't feel well 3 or 4 days (due to everchanging weather, I suppose) and I tried to spend more time with my family, as my husband started to complain.
So I managed:
- to complete Unit 9 in my Chinese textbook
- to listen much to chinesepod
- to read Chapter 3 of HP, write out new words and nice phrases.
Anki: Chinese - 195 entries; Spanish + German - 463 entries.
